Hi, this is really embarassing. I am 5 months pregnant and I've woken up in the morning twice and had vaginal flatulence. It doesn't hurt. I've heard so much about air embolisms it kind of scares me. Is this harmful or normal?
What could be the cause of this? I never had it before. Thank you.

If there is an odor this could signal a problem...Vaginal flatus that involves strong odor may be a result of colovaginal fistula, a serious condition involving a tear between the vagina and colon.......if there is no odor I don't think you have anything to worry about

I experience vaginal flatulence and I am not sexually active in anyway, shape, or form. There is no warning of it coming, no way to stop it, no odor. I cannot associate it with anything that I eat (except maybe yogurt?) or any activity. There is no consistancy in time of day or frequency. I can go days, weeks, months, or years without having it reoccur, or I may have it several times in a week. My M.D. nor my OB Gyn have any idea of what I am talking about (makes you feel kind of crazy and odd!)
I am elated to discover that I am not the only one to experience this! However, I am not happy to find out that others have it too. What I really want is answers as to why this happens, and if there is anything that we can do to prevent it or control it.
Thank you!
