I have been having vaginal odor 5 days or so before every period for about 6 months.......is this normal.....and if not (which I am assuming it's not) what could the causes be? I only notice it during sex, and I didnt have sex for two years prior. I am really nervous that this could be a serious problem, and I can't afford to go to a doctor.

Hello sugaraly,
It’s true that, like previous poster said, some increased discharge before the period, is normal, but still, if you haven’t had anything like this before, there are also chances that there might be something more to it. It’s probably nothing overly serious, since it increases only before your period, but still, if it’s having an odor and is irritating and most of all – lasts for more than few months, than you have to check this out with your gynecologist.
Chances are that this might be either persistent yeast infection or maybe bacterial vaginosis. They are not sexually transmitted as such, but there is some proof that your immune system gets weaker before your period, so there are bigger chances that yest or bacteria can cause symptoms like stronger discharge.
