I had a hysteroscopy and a d&c in july because i have abnormal bleeding, a fibroid and polyp in my uterus and a cyst in my right ovary.  The results of the hysteroscopy came normal (per the doctor).  I have to go back in December to see how the cyst is doing.  It has no solid components but it went from 1.4 cm in January to 5.8 cm in July so it has been growing at a steady pace and she wants to check to see if it continues growing to make a decision whether it should be removed or not.  I was also put on provera in July for the bleeding (I bleed at least 14 to 16 days very heavy  and then like 10 days break and start again).  I started my 10 day 5 mg after my 16th day of my period in July and it has been 24 days after I took the pills and still no period.  I see another doctor on the 30th of this month (August) and I am waiting to ask her if it is normal to not have period or how long does it take to have one after provera.  I am not sure if it is a good sign (I am not complaning about the period because they were very heavy and it feels good not to have one) but I don't know why I haven't had one and what is going on if the provera has worsen the problem or if my period is completly gone.  I am 49 and the doctor had mentioned that because I am so close to menopause my period could very well be gone in a couple of months as well as a couple of years.  It is very frustrating because at it seems now I don't have a concrete answer of what is going on.  All I can say it I am going in with an open mind to this doctor and see what she can tell me.  The waiting and the symptoms are always the worst.

actually, the hysteroscopy is normal,,so no need to worry and i think you have nearly the time for manopause ,,so if it starts,, it will be good for u..............and i think the thyroid,,diabetes mellitus reports are normal...........so...u continue the treatment of provera..........it is the only choice...............and if still the bleeding is continues u can add DUPHASTON ( dydrogesterone)............but at conclusion there is not need to worry,,u r out of danger...............

Thank you taking the time to answer.  It has been almost 2 months now and I still have not had a period (again i am not complaining at all because I truly do not miss these).  I went to see the Doctor on August 30th, but because she still had not received copies of the ultrasound and hysteroscopy records there was not much she could do.  Waste of time.  She ordered me some test and I am not taking provera this month since my period never came.  I am scheduled for an ultrasound tomorrow and hopefully by the time I see her again I will have more answers than questions.

I took this pill for 3 months. I wish I would have thrown them in the trash can the first day. I had a hysterectomy. The doctor told me he was going to do it through a scope then gave me a prescription for these pills. Then the day of my surgery he said to me I had to have the big slit (no scope). I said what are you talking about? He said you took Provera and it makes your uterus as hard as leather. He said I can't pull it out through a scope. So keep that in mind. I also prayed the whole time I took it. If you read the side effects, dementia, Alzheimer, strokes, blood clots, and some other I can't remember. For such a little pill it sounds like it can do a lot of harm to your body. I would rather have had 2 periods a month than have the slit. I could kick myself for taking these.

OMG this is so bizzare, ME TOO! SAME STORY! 25, Bleeding for 3 months-soon to be 4 if it does not stop, was perscribed Provera cause it worked really well in the past, was diagnosed this year with PCOS, i have several cryst on my ovaries which is typical with this condition, MY LAST PILL I TAKE tomorrow and there is still red discharge when i wipe, but the heavy flow has stopped but i fear it will come back after i stop taking it. i called and left a message for my OBGYN to help and to come in again for an appointment and i will certainly followup tomorrow but its nice to know i'm not alone, i feel so lonely and deprssed and so unable to control my body anymore :( when, if for any of you, did you notice provera actually stopping the flow completly? was it after the last pill? or did it not work at all? anyone? thanks please let me know just for peace of mind! ciao~M

This pill is the worst. I took it. I had the same problem you did. I had a bleeding ovary which they found out when I had a hysterectomy. I was told the day of my hysterectomy that because I took this pill that HE PRESCRIBED! I couldn't have a hysterectomy with a scope...I had to have the old fashioned kind that takes longer to heal. I was told that this pill makes your uterus as hard as leather and they can't cut it up to take it through the scope. I haven't read this any where on the web so maybe my doctor is just full of c**p. But it really made me mad that day. I would look into it.

I am 51 and I started bleeding again 1-1/2 years ago and it still hasn't stopped.  Yes, that's spotting/light/heavy for 1-1/2 years!  My dr. prescribed Provera for me -- I'm on my 8th daily dose and if anything it's heavier.  I had actually been in menopause for 5 years so WTF?  I know it's due to stress of being laid off my job, but this is crazy!

I am 47 years old and started having irregular, very heavy, very painful  periods 2 years ago.  I finally went to my Gynocologist on 12/3/12 and she put me on Provera 10mg.  All bleeding stopped 12/9/12.  I went for an ultrasound on 12/26/12 and was found to have fibroids.  I have occasionally forgotten to take my Provera but start back the next day and would only have a little spotting.  Recently, I missed my pill on 3/8/12  and started spotting on 3/15/12 then began having my period on 3/17/12.  I have been bleeding everyday since then and am still taking my Provera.  The doctor told me that Provera is very sensitive, but come on!  Still bleeding while taking Provera?  I don't understand.

I am 24 yrs old and I have very irregular periods... Provera taken for 10 days lets off a hormon in your body to let in know that it need to cycle, provera taken for a few days 3-5days lets in know that it is time to stop. I have been given provera to stop my bleeding when I have any bleeding lasting over 14days. I also take the depo shot which is a dose of provera as birth control.

I was taking Provera to get my period and boy was it horrible. I was so heavy for 9 days that I went back to my OBGYN and they gave me Provera to stop the period but I'm still having a light period. This has been going on for 2 months. So..sorry so long but in my experience a heavy mensus is normal especially with Provera and very painful!
