Hi! First off, I'd like to say that I am a 14 year old virgin(15 in some months if that's informational). For some years now I've noticed that my vagina is a lightish pink and a really deep red. It also smells from time to time. Sometimes it's a normal smell, but some other times it smells kinda of bad. When on my period, my vagina can smell a bit fishy. When off my period, it can be pink and red, but it can also be just straight red with no other color. I've told my mother about it when I started my period when I was 11(after I started I became curious about my body and began to explore it)and she told me not to worry. I'll just clarify that the redness and smell is concerning me, I'm pretty sure that pink is a normal color. Although, there is nothing wrong with the outside lips of my vagina(as far as I am concerned). I'm not sure if my vagina has always been like this or if it only started when I got my period. I'm anxious to know if I've somehow contracted an STD, have an infection, or something of the like. I would consult with my doctor, but she makes me fell uncomfortable and doesn't fully understand me when I try to open up to her.

If you shower all the time, you might consider taking a bath, because the water goes into the vagina when you bathe and helps freshen you up. Also, your labial area changes color when blood goes to that area. That happens easily and isn't really a cause for concern unless you have some type of infection and your skin really hurts all the time. Also, sometimes, women need to get medicine for a yeast infection. If that smell doesn't go away, you may need that. But now you can get something at the drugstore without a prescription. Look for the kind with the least doses! Hopefully, you won't need that.
