Hi,
This is a 2 part question, please feel free to answer either one.

1st Question: I lost my virginity about a week ago. Unfortunately there was no fore-play and I wasn't ready for him. When he entered I began bleeding uncontrollably (I was told that the hymen breaking would result in very little bleeding) and feeling pain. I was still spotting blood 3 days later (it has stopped now). Is it safe to assume that there was vaginal tissue damage? And if so, will this heal on its own? Would it also be safe for me to wear tampons?

2nd: The sex was unprotected and happened only 4 days after my period ended. I took the plan B pill about 12 hours after intercourse. However, merely a week after I started cramping and bleeding heavily. It's probably the heaviest amount of bleeding I have ever experienced. Is this to be considered my "period" even though it is happening only 12 days after my normal period ended? And does this mean that the pill was effective in eliminating any chance of conception?

Thanks.

Hi Mich: I am concerened about such blood loss with you loosing your virginity. But with your second comment I am even MORE concerned. Due to the fact you had unprotected sex, the 1st time could have something to do with an STD!!!! So I would like you to get checked out about that!!!

The Plan B CAN have effects of lost of bleeding and a mini period. It is usually the body getting rid of the egg, quicker than usual. So I would hazzard a guess that you should get your regular period on time or even a little bit later! One thing I should say is this! PLEASE do not use the Plan B as a contraceptive OK? It is NOT supposed to be used for that, it is an EMERGENCY pill only! It has MAJOR effects on your system - because it is FILLED with hormones. So be careful and ALWAYS have your partner use a condom!

For the 1st part, I am quite serious about you getting a check up! IF he has torn you, you will need that looked at and do not use a tampon till it is healed. PLUS be tested for an STD/STI! OK? I'm worried about this - especially with the bleeding and your partner not being sensitive to the fact that you weren't ready. Please let me know how you are doing OK?

Hi Bambi. Thank you for your reply. I am going to get checked sometime this week. However, I am a little confused as to how a lot of bleeding can be signs of an immediate STD. Would you mind elaborating. I just want to know more about it.

Thanks.

Hi Mich: I know about bleeding after sex from STD's but here is a list of different reasons why you would bleed after sex! KEEPING in mind that it doesn't HAVE to mean that you have the worse form, it is just VERY suspicious that you bled so much after sex!

So get checked out and REALLY think about this guy OK? Of course I don't know him, but the way I see it is like this, he didn't even try to take it easy with you. He hurt you and I HOPE that this wasn't a forced incident for you! And I REALLY pray that you don't have an STD ESPECIALLY after your 1st time. IF you are going to see this guy again, REALLY think about the lack of care with you OK? Get checked out 1st so you don't get too upset and overwhelmed by the above link! And please let me know OK? Good luck and health honey!

Hi Bambi,

Don't worry. The guy and I are no longer talking. It was a careless mistake on both of our parts. One that I don't plan on making in the future. I think that the bleeding during sex happened due to an unnecessary amount of friction. I think the spotting could have been due to broken tissue. But I will definitely get checked up regardless.

Do you happen to know how much an STD test costs? I can't use my parents insurance because it will risk them finding out, but I am willing to pay for it on my own. I am hoping that the guy didn't have anything either. I just feel blessed that there were no emotions involved when it happened (it makes it easier to move on from him).

I will definitely keep you updated and let you know how everything turns out.

Hi Bambi,

A few more updates for you:

I am going to a clinic with a close friend on Thursday to get tested for std's/hiv. I am very very nervous, but am glad to finally be going.

Regarding the bleeding. It has lightened up. No more clotting and its just light blood. I put in a tampon today and it went in without any pain. I am using tampons tentatively right now and plan to take it out at the first sign of pain.

Once again, I will let you know of anything else that goes on.

Thank you for your insightful advice once again. I looked up on that website that you gave me and I found it to be very helpful. It made my a little paranoid, but I'm glad to know what I could very possibly be dealing with a few weeks from now.

Hi hon: I will keep my fingers crossed for you! Hopefully it is just one of the minor reasons - such as a yeast infection - Let me know OK? Also IF and I hope not, but IF it is an STD, you can actually press charges against the jerk that gave it to you! Because he would know he had an STD and gave it to you without telling you! BUT that is only IF you have one! Good luck hon!
