My 76 yr old mother has been experiencing severe abdominal pain that feels like something is trying to claw its way out of her stomach, she has been to two different hospitals and no one knows whats wrong, the pain is so severe she has to be on liquid oxycodone every four hrs. and that just puts it at bay doesn't completely get rid of it, it is accompanied by nausea, dry heaves. It can come on by physical movement, such as dry heaving, reaching for something, bearing down to use the rest room, etc. but also from doing absolutely nothing. She has lost 20 lbs, has had a hiadal hernia surgery that has slipped( nissen wrap) and a pylori Plasty surgery in the last year, symptoms abate for a while then have returned worse than ever, we believe because she is on a liquid diet but when she returns to a normal diet it starts all over again. We are trying to get her into Stanford in CA right now because UC Davis doesnt know whats wrong! PH probe, manometry, gastric emptying study, endoscopy, have been done, shows stomach is emptying ok, some reflux not to significant, her esophagus is working, we have every test a couple of times. It is getting to where she can't function, she's weak, and can not vomit so she just dry heaves. We are desperate if anyone has heard of something similar please let me know, The dr.doesn't believe the pain she is experencing is caused from the slipped hiadal hernia repair because the pain is approximately in the center of her abdomen, starting to just above her navel to approx. 3 inches above, so he thinks its to low, that the hernia pain would be higher. She has had her gull bladder removed. Has a complete hysterectomy. Any ideas?
