This has started very recently say past 1 week. Whenever I go to mastrubate I experience severe pain in the back of my head near neck and litte above that. The pain is so much that I could not masturbate. This has happened only during masturbation. Rest of the time I am fine. However, this pain last for approx 2 hours and its unbearable.
I am 27 male (married) and I smoke regularly. Can someone let me know what shud be causing this. All this while my sex life was fine and I did not face such kind of problems earlier.
Thanks,
Scorpion.

Well, there are so called coital cephalgia (sex headaches) that occur during sex or slightly following ejaculation. The cause of these headaches is thought to be raised blood pressure and pressure in the head.
You should see a doctor and complain about the problem. You should be also investigated for an underlying condition.
The problem could be fixed by taking certain drugs a few hours before the act in order to avoid the pain. I know it kills the romance but it could be the only way to avoid the pain.

i found 2 things that caused me to have these, nasalcrom / naslide or other corticostoroid type nasal spays, and regular use of celebrex for an arthritic condition i have due to a compressed disk in my neck.

I experienced this kind of pain many years ago when I was 14 (I had started masturbation around age 12). From memory it lasted about a few months, with severe headaches that worsened just before and up to orgasm. It inexplicably went away after that time, recurring only once or twice and have not experienced the problem since.

i got it recently too, it sux, but appearently its not happening during sex, just masturbation 4 me, i take a warm shower when it happens, seems to relieve the pain a bit.

it seems this problem is definitely related to the increase in blood pressure that occurs during masturbation.
this also happened to me recently: i got into a fight once with a drunken college student, who managed to land a strong blow to the back of my neck, which initially stung a little, but didn't really start to hurt until i performed stressful tasks or masturbated. It would be a dull pain that only would only become stronger as i approached climax, as described above. Eventually, over a few weeks' time, it went away and i was back to my good old happily masturbating self :-D

This has just recently started happening to me. I am 15 years old, going on 16 in one month and I have been experiencing the pain for about 2 weeks now. I check once or twice a week to see if the result will be any different and/or if it has gone away. My initial plan was to wait about a month before even checking again since the pain is so unbearable but whenever I get those sudden urges it seems the only way I can make them go away is to approach my climax, experience the pain, stop and take an advil to dull the pain. I was so frightened when it first happened and immidiately began searching for answers when saw that a brain tumor or some kind of cancer could be the source of pain and I panicked. However, I have been reassured by these stories and other articles I have read that the condition may in fact be very mild and that it can go away and I can return to my lifestyle. I'm somewhat embarassed to talk to my mother about it however, if the problem persists for more than half a year, should I consult my mother and doctor?

This has flared for me a couple of times over the last two years.
It feels like my head is going to explode for about a minute or two.
The pain is awful.
I think it has to do with blood pressure, but I'm not ruling out some inflamation due to either pollen or other humidity related issues.
My doc couldn't help me, but put me on blood pressure medication. It seems that the pain went away in less than a month even without his intervention, so I'm not convinced that this was this cause.
I note that I also had "pigged out" on Munchies brand salted cheezy snack food in the week before it occured. So, I cut back (cut out) all of this snack, and found things got better. So maybe it WAS related to blood pressure, but I could control it by diet? At least that's my story and I'm sticking to it! :-(

I'm relieved to see other people have the same problem and are still kicking (I hope :-P). It happened to me 5 years ago, when I masturbating in the shower when I was 14. It had no onset, It felt like I had just been bludgeoned in the back of the head with a baseball bat. The thing that I don't see here is that my headache lasted ages. Literally 3-4 months. However I had another episode a couple weeks later when I tried to masturbate (which might have prolonged the problem.) However, I remember having the headaches for a long time up until I started smoking marijuana. I smoked marijuana for about 3 years before I quit, and during that time I never had another problem. And although I nolonger smoke, I still don't have the problem. However I have fairly severe anxiety, and up until about 5 minutes ago I still worried about what happened 5 years ago. The reason I wasn't told about this from my doctor I'm guessing because I lied about what really happened. I was so embarrassed that when I went to the doctor and my mother I said I was playing with my dog (which seems now to be a big mistake). Anyway, this has provided some closure to see that it isn't all that rare. I hope all of you well and that you also find a way to cope. Although I can't say "HEY weed is the answer!" it certainly helped me. If you aren't morally opposed to it, it might be a good idea for you. However if you have anxiety I recommend you do NOT try it. I had severe panic attacks from weed when I quit. Not that weed caused it, but more so it just released my inner demons. I now have to cope with ongoing anxiety. Anyway, cheers!

That just may be the case. Its been happening to me for about a week now and after reading this i specifically remembered that the last it happened to me i was doing that. The pain was sever enough and i was forced to stop masturbating and when i did i realized that i was clenching my teeth...haven't had a chance to confirm or deny yet but its definatly something to keep in mind.

Well I had the same thing, but I don't remember if it was here or on other forum some guy said that is because u dont breath, when I started to breath while im masturbating it works... no pain, I'm glad that im back to old masturbating days =)

Guys, this sounds like it could be high blood pressure spiking and/or pounding in a sinus cavity too.
I'd use caution. If it persists, seek medical attention.

I am so happy to read that it isn't only me. At first i thought i had blown a vain or something in my head and i was going to die. But now that i know that other people have expeirenced it, i feel a lot better. I am 15 years old and was masturbating and it started. I have only had these headaches for about 2 days now, but i was very worried. I haven't told my mom that it is because of masturbation.. i just told her that i started to get them randomly. I am hoping if i stop masturbating for a while then they will go away. Right now, i am just popping the tylenol's and relaxing. It's good to know that i am not the only one :-P
