I have had the exact same pain during intercourse when I have an ovarian cyst.  I have been diagnosed with endometriosis.  I have also had excruciating pain that I thought was a cyst but nothing came up on the scans.  Have had ER reports tell me that I may have pelvic congestion syndrome (pcs) which fits all of the symptoms.  Some women with PCS feel like they have a cyst and have the pain with sexual intercourse, but really it's something to do with varicose veins in the uterus/ovaries.  Might be worth looking into for some of you.

You shouldn't be having sex if you are only 17 years old and your girlfriend is a virgin. Save it for marriage or at least until you are an adult

Hello my dears, I am 23 and am experiencing all of the above. Thank you so much for this, I have all of these symptoms and have been having this pain for the the past few months and if i had it before it wasn't this intense. Last night i almost went to the ER due to the intensity of my pain after an attempt to have a romantic evening with my boyfriend, i also was forced to call off of work today since i am still barely able to move. The first time it happened my initial thought with this pain was perhaps the size of my boyfriend (a very wonderful 8in) and me being a pretty petite woman, however he has been with smaller women and they never have had any difficulty. I went to my gyn and she had me get the pelvic and vaginal ultrasounds internal and external. All results came back fairly normal aside from a possible ovarian cyst in my left ovary. Also having a very abnormal discharge i was placed on an antibiotic (i feel as tho i live on antibiotics) in turn as soon as i take that i get an instant and extremely, extremely uncomfortable and painful yeast infection. I am constantly taking probiotics and eat yogurt to attempt to have this happen less often but it doesn't seem to help. i have abdominal pain on a regular basis without sex. I am pretty sure i have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) My insurance just recently changed so my next step is to go see a GI, GYN, as well as a immune system specialist, and a neurologist. i will update with any answers i may receive. I share all of your frustration with doctors, I have also been suffering from intense headaches for the past 13 years and all the doctors i have gone to with this as well never seem to be able to figure out what is wrong with me and think they know and don't listen to what i have to say long enough to understand the debilitating factor of all these things.

Hi I agree! I feel it really has something to do with when I eat the food or what types of food I had ate before sex. I experienced this sharp pain every now and then, and I realized it may be because of the spicy food I have been eating. Somehow my intestines may have been inflamed so sexual intercourse only heightened the intensity of the inflammation. The pain usually goes away after 15-20minutes but when it doesn't, I would take some Pepto Bismal and it helps relieve the pain. The pain would go away after about 30-40 minutes.

I've had these same symptoms for about four years. I don't even remember what it's like to enjoy sex. My Dr did a laparoscopy a month ago and removed endometriosis from my uterine ligaments and removed a cyst from a Fallopian tube. I gave masturbation a try, and sure enough, the pains that follow immediately after orgasm are still there. I have been researching this for a while and can only find women who have the same symptoms, but cannot find a solid explanation. I can't even find research being done. I have read that women who've had the pains, did not have them after pregnancy. Not really the easy solution considering it hurts so much to naturally conceive a baby.

Hi, I am 21 and have experienced top abdominal and lower right abdominal pain quite often during sex when close to or after climax. January '11 I had a large cyst removed from beside my right ovary. The cyst had been found the previous July due to heavy bleeding and severe stomach cramps that caused me to fall unconscious. They found an eptopic miscarriage (6-7 weeks) in the scans in the following days of this incident as well as finding the cyst beside my ovary and a smaller cyst on my uterine lining. I hadn't noticed the pain/severe sensations before the laparoscopic surgery to remove the cyst and find that it doesn't happen every time my partner and I have sex but when it does-OUCH!! But doesn't seem to hang around as long as you ladies describe yours. Very interesting to see the range of symptoms but same responses as I have also received for the past 3 years! I am currently taking the first steps into conceiving our first child and hope that this problem is not going to be a factor in doing so. I am in contact with specialists in the hospital to get to the bottom of my extremely irregular periods and returning ovarian cysts.

I hope that there is at least some information available out there one day very soon!!

I have the same probs. I hurt on both sides and have done for the last 15 years. I had a laproscopy done and they also found adhesions on my bowel. Has anyone given a thought to whether the probs are bowel related?

Hi there i'm 38 years old. i have two kids. both naturally. after having my second child i had my tubes tied. about a year or two after that i started having severe stabbing pains in my lower left abdomen (usually right before or after my menstral cycle) . the doctor that delivered my kids just told me that i was straining my abdomen muscles. after a few years it just stopped all together, so i just forgot about it. in 2005 i went to a different gyno and she felt that my lower left side had a lump in it, but it didn't hurt when she pushed on it. she had a internal sonogram done and it turned out to be that i had a huge cyst on my left ovary. it was big enough that my ovary and tube had to be removed. i hope this helped you out.

I am 27 years old, I am on anti-depressants so I don't have a high sex drive anyways but I  have one daughter with my fiance' of 6 years, my daughter just turned 3. I had a c-section when I had her so I figured I would be fine (southern region wise) in the long term. However, after she was born, and she was around 6 months old, and we REALLY started with our sex life again, I started having pain every time he penetrated too deep. It feels like he is stabbing me (dully) in the ovaries. I have to tell him to pull out a little bit because I can't handle the pain. It was never a problem when we first got together, yes, I was 21 and so was he and of course when you are first with a person you go "at it" like rabbits, hard and fast and etc. Now it's like I swear his genitals must have grown an inch or two! It's just horribly uncomfortable in any position! Missionary it is usually bearable, but even now it is starting to get "ouchy".  We are currently trying for our second child and it seems more like uncomfortable work than fun. Let's just say I don't look forward to having sex and it's not just because of the medication I'm on. It is painful! Any suggestions? BTW, I have had appointments with my gynecologist and she says there's nothing "wrong" but perhaps I may be getting an occasional ovarian cyst. If that is so, then why does it hurt every time we have sex??

Hello, I'm 20. My long time-long distance boyfriend and I have unprotected sex, he pushes it too deep that it reaches the cervix (i think or the very bottom) and I involuntarily contract my vagina while having sex and I bleed. And after a few days, I can feel something in my abdomen and some parts of my stomach. On the first day, I feel the pain every minute I think, and second day no pain at all, just something that I can't explain. I'm really worried. Does the pain I'm feeling is from the rough sex? Or am'I pregnant? Or its just my UTI? Please help me. PS. I hope I'm not pregnant :(

Hey ladies. I too have had similar experiences. I am 24 and have had this since I was about 16-17. I had severe abdo pain. Went to hopsital they couldnt find anything wrong but was still in an immense amount of pain. So after 12 days in hospital, not allowed to eat or drink and internal, external ultrasounds, etc. The drs decided to do an appendisectomy (remove the appendix) to see if there was an infection inside. Neg results. Afterwards I was sent home. I had pains during/ after sex, extreme pain during peroids, felt c**p all the time, pain in my abdo frequently. Had over 50 hospital trip in 2yrs. Went to a gyn had a laproscopy. And they found I have endometriosis, blocked tubes and cysts and lesions on my tubes, ovaries and whom. I have had 3operations for this. They say the best way to get rid of it is to have a child, but unfortunately for me its extremely difficult with blocked tubes. So maybe speaking to your dr about endometriosis. I have a very severe case of it. So some peoples symptoms may not be so extravagant. Its worth a shot to ask your dr. Hope ive answered some questions

I'm 18 and I've never had a kid. Almost every time I have sex it hurts on at least one side of my lower abdumum. Usually the right side, occasionally on the left. The other night we were I. The middle of having sex, I was on my side, and everything was fine. there was no pain for once. We went to switch positions and I couldn't sit up, the pain was terrible and i couldn't stand it. I laid down for about five minutes and everything was fine again. Any body have any suggestions??
