Hi there,
My name is Wendy, at present I'm over 20st, 5 years ago I was a lot lighter and was training for my first half Marathon, I sprained my ankle very badly and it never seemed to be the same.
My work is very stressful which caused me to eat more than I should have.
I'm normally an active person given my size, walking, gym, and cycling.
But I love running and playing badminton. My local running shop have been fantastic and have helped me to find the rightwomens running clothes, so if your large and feel embarrassed, don't! Pop into a specialist shop and have a chat mine were great, they fitted me with some shoes and I'm doing treadmill and road/grass jogging to get me going watching the knees and being careful.
To all you runners, this will sound silly, but this week I completed my first mile without stopping, 10m 50 sec, for me it was the Marathon I never done. I'm training 3-4 times a week now a little bit extra each time and I feel great.
I know that theres going to be bad times when I'll need help, but I want to enter a race next year, I know I'll be last but I don't care, so if you pass me just give a quick word of encouragement.
Good luck all, and happy and safe running.
Wendy
