I have very light spotting and I have been getting it everyday for about a week now. I have also had a headache that is at the back of my head on the right side and my neck is getting sore. I thought I slept wrong but I noticed I got all three symptoms around the same time and it is still on going. any help would be greatly appreciated. I am 37, not on birth control but not sexually active either :-S

You already know that things like stress, anxiety or unusual emotional events can cause hormonal changes that sometimes lead to spotting. Even a change in weight can be the reason for changes in your period. However, there are also more serious reasons as to why spotting might have happened. It could be caused by some sort of an infection or the change in the cells of your cervix that are usually detected by pap smear. When was your last visit to the gynecologist? But headache and neck soreness might mean flu? Infections or some medications could also be the cause.

Well, I'm not a doctor so take this with a grain of salt, but you did ask for opinions so... Thyroid disorders are one possible cause of bloody discharge between periods. Thyroid disorders can also lead to headaches.

You should always see a doctor for bleeding between periods, and usually, a gynecological examination would be the first step. This should still be done, of course, as well as testing for pelvic infections, but when you see a doctor, perhaps make sure to also ask if they can have your thyroid function tested?

Of course, something completely different could be wrong as well. That is why you need to see a doctor, to find out.
