Hi everyone, I just have a question. Last week I was suppose to get my period. I'm on birth control so my periods are regular. Anyway, I was a week late and then I started to have brown spotting. I didn't know what it was but I noticed when I wiped there was a hint of blood on the tissue. After I started spotting blood and then next day I seemed to have a light period. The day after that I started spotting again. Then the day after that it all stopped. I'm not really having pregnancy symptoms other than I'm hungry all the time and I'm craving everything. I still have cramps and feel as though I'm on my period but there is nothing there. I haven't had sex for over 1 month now because my fiance is in the military so I don't see him often. The last time I had a period was the day after we last had sex.
I really don't know whats going on or if this is normal and I really just want to know if this has happened to anyone. If so, did you end up being pregnant, or had something wrong?

Hi,

If you weren't on the pill, I'd tell you it's best to see your doctor about bleeding between periods right away. Spotting blood at unusual times is not, however, unusual for women using hormonal contraceptives. Of course, it still can't hurt to do a pregnancy test and even to get tested for infections (not necessarily sexually transmitted), so if you're worried, do go in. It does happen, though, so I wouldn't be freaking out too much if I were you. If it happens regularly I might inquire about a different birth control method, on the other hand. If you're not hoping to get pregnant any time soon at all, the copper IUD is a great option.
