Hello everyone, I am glad Im not the only one this is happening to I was getting scared, I have been going threw the same thing for years now, but it only happened once in a while, over the last 2 weeks it keeps on doing it I went to the doctors and he said I was having spasms so he put me on muscle relaxers I have only be taking it for 2 days but my head and neck keeps jerking I will give it another week or so and see if it works if not Im gonna go to a specialist because I really want to know whats going on. I was told years ago it was a tic. It seems like it have gotten worse I dont know if it could be stress or my sinus aggrevating it. I guess I will see if my doctor is right and its spasms. I also feel alot of tension in my neck.

Well I'm turning 17 in september, and I've had these spasms for a while now, but they seem to be appearing more often. Usually in the middle of the day when I'm a little relaxed, my head will twitch very fast to the left or right without prejudice, and return to the center. Sometimes cracking the neck, and I will always feel a sensation through my spine. This sensation will often provoke my whole body to twitch in an upright position as well. I've had it since I was a kid, and it has always felt strangely relaxing, however it's happening more frequently and is starting to worry me. Thankfully, I don't think it has happened at school before, or at least I wouldn't know since it happens without warning and I've become used to it (plus I'm preoccupied with other things). Does anybody have a name for this?

My son had these spasms starting in his late teenage years. Painless, but getting them several times a day. He's been on all the epileptic drugs and has seen a neurologist. Unfortunately the drugs interfere with short term memory, so he gave them up--said they didn't stop the twitches anyway. However, as a traveling nurse, he found a chiropractor in San Francisco who was able to adjust him and reduce them significantly. He couldn't stay for the whole round of treatment, but by the time he left, he was having a week or so with none.

I started having these when I was 12. My head used to jerk violently to the right every once and a while, just for a split second. Right before them I would get a shiver up my spine. I wouldn't tell anyone because I thought it was normal. As the years went by they started to happen more and more often. I also started to have the urge to repeat people's words under my breath. Now I'm fifteen. My head still jerks violently, my shoulders jerk, and my arms flail uncontrollably. I have the urge to stomp on the floor really hard. I repeat people's words out loud and I shout and scream. The doctors have diagnosed me with some kind of tic disorder and since I didn't tell anyone when I was twelve, they have to see if it goes for another year to diagnose me with Tourettes.
So maybe it's like, some late onset tourettes? Hope that helped....

The neck is one of the key components of our body. It is what connects the brain to the rest of the body. This is why it is really very important to take care of it because as much as it is important, it is also very fragile and sensitive. Any damage to the neck can be very fatal or have permanent damage. Other harmful effects may include paralysis and unmanageable pain. A lot of people become paralyzed just because of minor neck injuries or symptoms that they shrugged off and ignored.

Totally random,
I looked this up, just for the hell of it.
I also have random neck spasms. I've had them since High School. I am 23. I am quite healthy and I have never had a neck injury.
I started to noticed this when I started think of death or something sexual. I tend to "focus" all that energy and it is transfered into my neck. Which then leads me to snap my neck to the left or right, which is sometimes followed by nice "crack!" LOL. It's funny to me but I was wondering if it was something medical.
Any guesses?

I get these as well, although i have had this problem for years now. I will have a spasm or my whole body will jerk at random times but I have had it for so long that i am used to it? which is weird but it does concern me alto and i got teased and picked on for spasming out randomly its weird because like you said you dont know what triggers them and neither do I. i wonder if it's tied into my other health problems as well though. I get horrible stomach pains like i need to go to the ER for them constantly for the past 4 years. If the pain was between a 1-10 it will get up to a 10. I feel like im bleeding inside or being hit with a fist over and over. NO over the counter meds work on me only the really strong ones like morphine. It will last up to 3-4 hours and range from a 6 to a 10. It has come to the point to where I have built up a tolrence to it and the doctors have done all kinds of scans and test still dont know what it is. Yes, they are random and come when every day or night doesn't matter. Anyway yes they cannot figure out whats wrong with my shudders or spasms Ive been told im just crazy or epileptic to i have Huntington from random sites so no one knows and i cannot tell you what is wrong because i am not a doctor.

You most likely have cervical dystonia/spasmodical torticollis. You need to seek a neurologist.

I get them every so often. I just be on my computer and my neck will jerk until it hits my shoulder.
It happens about 3-12 times a day and it becomes more frequent if im paying a scary game
or watching a scary movie. I always blamed it on my anxiety issues, but if its a tick... i might
have to get that checked out...
