Occasionally I get spasms in my neck. I have been diagnosed with scoliosis (it's in my lower back, it was 20 but I don't believe it's quite that bad anymore) and also a "straight" neck. My chiropractor told me that your neck is supposed to have a curve in it, however mine does not. To treat this I would lay my neck on a tightly wrapped towel for about 5 minutes every night. I haven't done this regularly for a few months now.
Every so often, unfortunately, I will turn my head a certain way and experience a very painful spasm in my neck. I'm not exactly what this is and why it happens, which is only about once every few weeks. I have been experiencing them for several months now. I just had one yet they a quite inconvenient if I am ever in public and have to deal with the pain and can't rub out my neck.
They happen very suddenly and sharply. The pain is only severe for a few minutes and then my neck is just really sore for a while. They occur near the top of my neck, not directly in the back but not quite on the side either. I am a fifteen year old female.
Any ideas exactly what this is and why it happens/how to stop it?
