Taking morning after pills after ovulation has already started?

Hello I have virgin girlfriend her last period started 11th of october and we had a thing in 25th of october so she probably ovulated, as I said she is a virgin and the story is I ejaculated in oral sex then we cleaned ourselves then 30 min later I brushed my penis's head up and down around her vulva may be for 5 or 10 seconds (she was not wet at all) then I stopped we got worried and she took the pill after 8 hours but according to articals I have read residual sperm in the urethra can cause a pregnancy and morning pills works by inhibiting or delaying ovulation so fertilization would not happen , my question is , would morning after pills help if ovulation has already happened ??
