I have suffered from all of the above. I came off the pill around 3 weeks ago and havent had any period at all or spotting. I have gained weight and have felt quite spaced out and had alot of headaches. Today i went to the loo and had a think white discharge more than i have ever had before. I have done a pregancy test about a week ago that came back negitive. I am going to the doctors next week so hopefully will get some firm answers then and will let you all know what she says. Its nice to know that there are others in the same situation as me and it sounds like it could be a normal side effect of coming off the pill.
Thanks for all your help x x :-)

I'm also just turned 22 this month! A lot of us seem to be around the same age range.
The discharge has gotten better, but now my nipples are always getting hard and are really sore to the touch.
My skin started clearing up with the mucous, but now that I'm on the nipples stage, my skin is breaking out. I'm not sure if there is a correlation though, as I've been under extreme stress the past week and I've always been acne prone......
I have not had sex for over a year and went off the pill around 2 months ago. I'm still worried though. Last month I spent the night with my guy friend (no sex) and we took a bath together. He wasn't turned on so I thought it was like a swimming pool...Now I'm worried about being one of those freak-accidents people. o-o Never doing something like that again...
And to Bubbless: Yeah, Ive been bloated on-and-off too!! I've been overeating though so another situation where I'm not sure if there is correlation (trying to get off sugar by filling up on "real" food).
I have NOT experienced nausea though. PS: I also went off the pill for health reasons. I was on it since I was 18. I've never had regular periods (even on the pill, my period would be any random day of my sugar pills).
Good luck everyone >.<

From my own research and speaking with various hormonal experts as I was getting concerned, it's ovulation time. I just came off of the pill 2 weeks ago after 17 years and didn't expect to even be fertile, let alone ovulate in the first month, despite thefact that I'm only 31... So, YAY! Here's a pretty simplified read. Hope it helps! http://www.ovulation-calendar.net/fertility-indicators/cervical-mucus.php

i had the same thing too! i've been on and off the pill for 5 years (i like to take breaks, i feel like it lets my body "breathe") and have only experienced the weird discharge after stopping the pill for a prolonged amount of time. The ovulation theory makes a lot of sense, especially since 2 days after the discharge incident, I experienced sharp pains on the side of my abdomen (a sure sign of ovulation for me). I was also very shocked that my body regulated itself so quickly since I stopped the pill only about 3 weeks ago. Haven't experienced any other side effects, maybe because I take pill breaks annually...

I am glad to rad all this. Ladies who are hopeful theya re pregnant from this, I must say, you may be out of luck since I too experience this same elastic sort of thicker discharge then usual and I am still a virgin. I have been on the pill for a while to regulate my menstrual cycle, and have skipped a month by accident. It seems the most logical answer is the person who wrote about your body preparing to ovulate after you get off the pill. Hope this helps.

I went off the pill a few years ago after being on for several years. I remember though within the first week or two of being off the pill that I did have a huge amount of mucus. I'm just saying this because at the time I beleived my body was just clearing itself from the effects of being on the pill as well as adjusting to regular hormones. I hear it takes about a year for some bodies to completley adjust to being off the pill so I wouldn't worry about it. It's normal

Hello, EVERYONE!
Please read this book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". It will answer all your questions about these types of cervical secretions. Going of the pill will require your body's feback system to get back in its groove. It will normally be about three months for your cervical mucus to go back to normal. Getting off the pill is a great decision and there is a very reliable method of contraception called Natural Family Planning. I call it "charting". You just chart the signs your body is telling you. It takes very little time out of the day. You get much more than just birth control out of it though. It can help you figure out if you have an abnormality and why (for example if you are not ovulating but still get your "period", your chart would tell you that your basal body temperature didnt rise as it would after ovulating and the bleeding you experience is technically not a normal period but just annovulatory bleeding.) Knowing that you are not ovulating, or other conditions can help you and your doctor find out if there is something going on that is serious. And you wouldn't have known except that you were studying your body's cycle. You would be amazed at what a beautiful symphony of hormons your body goes through every cycle.
Read the book! You will be amazed! it's at the library!

I have been on the pill for 5 years now and went off about two weeks ago after finishing my monthly pack. The past day or so I have had a ridiculously large amount of clearish, globed up discharge. I haven't had sex either. I believe it is just the body losing all the built up mucus that served more as a barrier to sperm while on the pill.
