I am now 11 days post-op from having my tonsils removed and my throat is fine. I am having serious problems with the back right side of my tongue. It hurts so bad if I try to eat or drink anything with seasoning or spices. I can only eat bland foods on the opposite side of my mouth. I called my doctor back and they said that I have a tongue ulcer which is common after tonsilectomy. I wish they would have told me about this before surgery. The pain is so intense and affects my right ear as well. Sometimes I get the throbbing pain and I haven't even ate or drunk anything. It seems to be worse in the evenings. I have found grits and the cups of ramen noodles to be the only foods that do not irritate it. My doctor says it can take some time to go away.
