hello! :-)
i recently got shouldered in the face during sport.
my labial frenum tore and is now absent.
it looks like a hole is present however the base
is still conjoined.
bleeding ceased after aprox 30min
was able to sleep tho only sore in the morning.
soreness occurred around the nasal cavity, maxillary arch
labially and pallately between the central insisors.
should i be worried? and should i go to the speciallist?
thanx

wow you sound pretty educated when it comes to terminology...the overall soreness was most likely caused by the sorness...if you were wanting to get it repaired by all means see a specialist but as long as you still function and are able to eat and all you will be fine medically...you will want to take precautions to prevent infection...use hydrogen peroxide often but its best to get a rinse with chlorohexidine in it (usually can only get with a RX)...the sorness is most likely an internal bruise and will heal in 7-10 days at the most... Wet tea bags have been known to be soothing as are warm salt water rinses. Most general dentists should be able to repair this without a problem as long as they do even a little perio or surgical. Its a fairly simple procedure and shouldn't cost much at all. (depending on where you are at and how much skin is missing) But as I said, it shouldn't be necessary.
