The distributor of Total Body Formula and Total Body Mega Formula voluntary recalled these dietary supplements after FDA had warned consumers about the products’ major side effects.

Side effects caused by the supplements include muscle cramps, diarrhea, joint pain, fatigue and even hair loss and have been reported by consumers to the FDA. There have been 23 documented cases by the FDA. The supplements come from the Total Body Essential Nutrition of Atlanta.

The supplements in question are Total Body Formula in flavors of Peach Nectar, or Tropical Orange and the Total Body Mega Formula in Orange/Tangerine. Consumers are advised not to buy any of these products and toss them away if already present in their homes.

It still has not been found what causes the effects, but the FDA believes there is a possible link between selenium and the effects. Too much selenium causes such side effects and it is likely that too much of this mineral made it into the dietary supplements.

The states which sell the dietary supplements include California, Missouri, Alabama, Michigan, Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, New Jersey, Virginia, Texas, and Tennessee.
