Weird. I've also had this vomit problem for the past 18 years (since age 7. I'd never considered the scar tissue problem that someone posted above. That is really helpful!
I've had silent reflux disease and was told by doctors that I vomit because my esophageal sphincter wasn't keeping food in. After having it tightened twice with poor results I gave up on the doctors and just dealt with it.
This condition seems to be very bad for tooth enamel and I imagine it's not really good for the esophagus either.
Has anyone had this condition successfully fixed?

I have the same problem. I just got broken up with about 3 weeks ago and ever since that day when I try to eat I throw up. Sometimes it will take getting only half way through a meal others it takes not long after. I've only been able to keep small meals down about 6 times in the past 3 weeks. I always have really bad stomach pains and only small amounts of water stay down. First I thought I was pregnant but 3 test were false & next I thought I was depressed but i'm over him and moved on. I need help and can't afford to see a doctor anytime soon. Please help me.

I would like to know if any of you girls, (sorry if some of you are guys) have had the Gardasil Vaccine? My daughter, 14 at the time, had the vaccine and has been vomiting after every meal for 3 months now...she has had every test imaginable, upper GI, hidascan, Colonoscopy, upper scope, CT scan...the works. I did find, while reporting to VAERS (vaccine adverse event reporting system) that there were about 9 other girls that reported this....but I can't help but wonder if some other ladies have not made the connection. (believe me, they are doing their best to say it is something other than the vaccine!!) She also has gastroenteritis and PID (pelvic inflammatory disease) that developed right after the vaccine. We are at our wits end, as every test comes back NORMAL...and vomiting after every meal, no matter the size, is NOT NORMAL!! Just let me know. lareee smith (together) at ya and hoo, dot com....you can figure that out. I am having a very difficult time finding others that are dealing with this!! Thanks so much!!

To everyone I have looked on the net tonight to see if I was going utterly bonkers or if I should start to believe what some people were telling me and accept I was indeed bulimic.
But having read all your swtories, I refuse to, I blike many of you have been suffering with sickness everyday for nearly 3 years.
I initially started to develop the condition when my manager in a home for adolescents with emotional behavioural problems bullied me about my ongoing epilepsy that I have had since I was 13 months.
The trauma of such intimidation tactics appeared to spark the ongoing condition and I like a few of you now accept sickness as part of my routine in my life.
I generally for the most part don't eat breakfast or lunch but will enjoy a nutrient enriched dinner.
I will to try to avoid anything that is too spicy as I find it hard to manage when it comes back up to say hello.
Since I started vomitting to now I have lost about 4.5 stone and gone from a uk size 16-18 to a 10 some of my clothes can be an 8 and some can be a 12 it really varies, but for the most part a 10.
I am going to see my gastro-interologist on wednesday 3rd feb 2010 to get the results of my endoscopy and colonoscopy that took place nearly 8 months ago, but have little hope he will be very forthcoming as he appeared not to give a toss last time.
My concerns lately have been the recent changes in me that have meant I seem to drop in blood sugar rapidly and need to get back to my place to eat something. This wasn't a problem before the continual sickness started.
I worry that I may be developing hypoglycemia or possibly diabetes as a result of this and the fact doctors are so unwilling to find out about it causes frustration and further stress which does not help the situation.
I have decided to write a book on it that I'm calling purging on insanity about the dangers of stress how it caused my sickness and a lesson to us all to protect ourselves more.
I would ask if anyone does find a solution or a good consultant if they could reply to my post, it would be most appreciated though.

Although the posts are quite old, I am new to the site but it would appear that some of you have differing disorders.

My own trouble started about 7 years ago after eating some beautiful berries that we grew on our farm. Later that evening I was bringing up just the berries but my throat started bleeding from the berries coming up. Not the dinner eaten beforehand, just the berries.

Over the next months I noticed that I could not eat any fruit whatsoever without bringing it back up. The process was not being sick, just regurgitation of the fruit.

Over the years, the problem got much worse and any food that contained fibre was regurgitated. Strange though was that I could eat a dinner followed by a desert, but it would be just the chicken, for example, that would be regurgitated. My diet for quite a few years was mealie porridge, the only thing that I could keep down.

I went to the top specialist in Cape Town. Various tests were conducted but no diagnosis was ever given to the problem. It was found that I had a web just above the opening into my stomach. At the height of the problem, I could not even keep down orange juice or soft serve ice cream.

At its height, I considered suicide quite often. The one Christmas, my Christmas diner was nothing but a bowl of mealie meal porridge.

Over the years, I have been very fussy with what I consume and slowly, very slowly, the problem has abated and I can now eat almost anything again, but I know that there are some things that I just cannot touch.

I hope this post helps other sufferers with their problem, but my problem was not vomiting, but selective regurgitation.

Hey! I am returning to tell you my diagnosis. After several years of throwing up after eating, I was finally diagnosed with a hiatal hernia by an EGD. It is basically when your sphincter that stops food from coming back up from your stomach and entering your esophagus loosens and allows your stomach to slip up a little. There is not much you can do about this except surgery. The surgery is not recommended because you can no longer vomit, ever. Sounds good but not really. imagine eating something that has spoiled and not being able to get it out. anyway, my doctor put me on Prilosec OTC. it is pretty cheap but it works. I take it at least an hour before i eat and it stops me from vomiting. I have found that the generic does not work because although it is also Omeprazole, it does not have the added calcium. Apparently calcium has the special touch. I occasionally still vomit but mostly when i forget my meds or eat something i was allergic to. So i recommend talking to a gastroenterologist about having an EGD. They give you Versed and knock you out. It is painless and you will not remember anything about it. Good Luck ;-)

Greetings and thanks for the reply.

yes, I was diagnosed with the Hiatus Hernia in the late 70's and took Gaviscon tablets whenver I had acid reflux.

The regurgitation started around 1995 after eating some red berries that we grew on the farm. When I brought these up I was also bringing up plenty of blood, but goodness knows where from. That was in the mid 90 to late 90's and since that day I cannot eat any fruit at all. Strawberries are now the worse culprit. At one time I could not eat anything but a bland porridge as that was the only thing that stayed down.

I have made steady progress, but still watch what I eat. I cannot lay on my right side to sleep as that will bring up acid or food into the throat.

I had a laproscopy with an old fashioned viewing type of appliance. The specialist put on the one end on his head and looked down whilst the other end of the tube was pushed down my throat. He would tell me what he saw from the entrance into the stomach and also the exit into the small intestines. This fellow confirmed that I had a bad hernia on top of the stomach. All of this was done whilst I was just lying down on his examination table with no anasthetic whatsoever. They makeus tough out here in South Africa.

Omeprazol is a "Proton Pump Inhibitor". It stops the stomach producing acid. I was recommended to take one 20 mg tablet each day. I see that was in june 2005, but I never took them.

I am basically living a normal life, but just stay away from fruit. Apples in a pie are fine, but not raw. I do find that if I try and eat fruit and bring it up, it starts off ther process of bringing everything else up for a few days until it settles down again.

Thanks once again.

Kind regards Roger Plettenberg Bay. South Africa.
