I had my first pelvic exam and about 5 days ago and it was so bad that I literally yelped out and cried. I thought I should wait a bit before resuming, and tried resuming intercourse yesterday and it was INCREDIBLY painful in one specific area. I have noticed a very little amount of blood when I go to wipe, I have no abdominal pain or vaginal irritation other than when I try and have sex. What could this be? I am very frightened and traumatized. What should I do?

Hi lovelee. What part of the exam was it that caused you the pain and what area are you experiencing the pain in when you tried to resume intercourse?

During the exam the pain came as soon as the metal tool clamps opened up inside of me. During intercourse when we are at specific positions the pain is very awful and like that of the actual exam. I was very tense when it had the exam as I was nervous for my first time experiencing it. I cried to the gyno.

It could be that when the speculum was inserted and opened it has stretched the internal wall of your vaginal canal more than it should have as the gyno who did the procedure was a bit uncaring and didn't take there time to relax you enough and explain as they was doing it.
Was it a male or female gyno who did the exam?

It was a female. I'm frightened that things won't go back to normal.

I have seen a few posts like this before but they have mainly been about the pain during not after the procedure.
I would advise you to just use the positions that don't cause you any pain for a couple weeks and see how you get on after that, it could just be where it stretched the walls of the vagina it bruised them a bit. Female gynecologists are usually more gently as they understand what it's like specially your first time you have it done.
