A little over two weeks ago I started my period, but i haven't really stopped. My period was super light and mostly spotting. Normally when i have my period i cramp really bad but this time i didn't. after my period it changed pink and then later it was brown. Today while i was in school I started bleeding Heavily. I've been really tired today which is pretty normal for me anyway, but i have had bad cramps in my stomach. Im not sure whats going on. Im not on any type of birth control and i have had sex.

Hi. Well, firstly (this is kinda gross, but) make sure that bleeding is actually coming from the vagina and is not from the rectum or in your urine. Inserting a tampon into the vagina will confirm the vagina, cervix, or uterus as the source of bleeding. Blood in the rectum or in the urine would signify completely different issues. And being sexually active doesn't play any part in your mentral cycle, so that isn't affecting this as all. Birth control affects allwomen differentlyandcan definitely mess up your period. Since your not taking any, that can't be the case with you. I had a friend who actually took birth control to help make her periods more regular, actually, so it all depends on your doctor and your body.
Almost everyone woman I know hasorhas had abnormal periods. Sometimes its nothing, everyone is different. Somewomen have more severecramps, much heavier bleeding, or a very light flow. Before I had my baby I usually had my period on schedule/on time every month, and get the cramping sometimes pretty bad. My flow always started out really heavy then got lighter until it turned brown, like what you said.
But, both of my sisters have/had abnormal periods. My younger sister's flow has always been random and heavy or light- and comes whenever it wants (not on schedule). She is afraid to go to the Gynocologist even to this day (she's had this problem for about 10 years), which scares me to death. She cannot even wear tampons because they hurt when she inserts them. She is pretty overweight, and thinks that this may be causing some of the problems. The only way to know is to go to thedr and find out.
My older sister also has had problems with her menstral cycle since she was a teen. She ended up having a cyst (sort of like a tumor) on her ovary and had to have a biopsy to see if it was cancer. It wasn't cancer, but she had to have surgery to have the cyst removed, which had gotten really really large since she went so many years without going to the dr.
I would say to DEFINITELY go to see a gynocologist as soon as you can to get it checked out. You could just be irregular, like many women are, and there are options to help regulate your period. But, and not to worry you, there could be more serious issues going on, such as cancer, or a cyst or growth on your ovaries or in your uterus. The only way to find out for sure is to go to the dr and get it taken care of. Don't be afraid. These types of things are really common and the dr's job is to help make you well and answer your questions. They are experts, and have seen and heard it all, so they know what they are dealing with.
The worst thing you can do for your health is nothing at all!!!!!
Andjust some advice, woman to woman. If your sexually active it may be time to talk to your dr (while your there) about birth control. It may help regulate your periods, and it is the safest and smartest way to have sex without getting pregnant. I am sureyour not ready for a baby being in school still and everything. My brother had a baby inhigh school and although my nieve is the greatest gift we could have asked for, it definitly wasn't the best time for him to become a parent. Be smart about sex. If your old enough to do it, then make sure to do it responsibly.
Best of luck and keep us posted on how you are doing.
