BEWARE of this medication and RUN AWAY from it if possible. Back pain is a symptom of pulmonary embolism (blood clots in the lungs) and can KILL YOU.

This seems to be a higher than usual occurrence with this drug. I have noticed more and more cases since a family member had this problem and want everyone to know this the drug from SATAN.

RUN AWAY!!!

Hi I have been having bad chest pains, shortness of beath and pain running up my right arm. I had been back in forth to the doctor but they had know answer. This is beginning to be very costly. I have an Utrasounds ran, EKGS, chest x-rays and blood and urine test ran and STILL NO ANSWER. I am glad to see these blogs. This may give me some hope to speak to my doctor about this problem. YAZ may be why I am feeling this way. Is there any one else experiencing these tyoe of syptoms?

I also experience the back pain and abdominal pain! I also have had low and spiking blood sugar, has anyone had any diabetic signs while taking YAZ? I have hot flashes during the month and extreme migrains during the placebo. I feel anxious all the time and I also take cymbalta and the dr. never told me that the two pills mixed cause a spike in the absorbtion of the cymbalta, so instead of my body absorbing the normal amount of the drug, it causes me to absorb twice as much. I dont know if anyone has had any of these problems, but please feel free to email me.

I have been experiencing pain all over my body since I have been on Yaz for 3 months. It started after 2 months of taking it. I have pain in my hands, back, legs, and pins and needles in my feet and hands. I have had all the tests done with my internist and the neurologist and everything is coming up normal. We are starting to think it may be the Yaz, so I stopped taking it three days ago. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?

I just finished reading all the posts and now feel like the symptoms I've been havng the past year are related to the Yaz. Yours is the first to mention the pins and needles which I've been experiencing since shortly after startng Yaz. Another post mentioned a young woman who had a stroke with the remaining side effect of nerve pain in her neck -- I've been seeing and accupuncturist for pain in my neck. I've been attributing these and body aches and pains to age and just didn't make any connection to Yaz until now -- reading all of these posts. I'm thankful to my friend who said I should research Yaz further since my most recent mamogram has shown a number of cysts that were not present 6 months ago.

I'm going to finish my pill pack for the month and be done with it. I have only been on since May 2008, started it primarily for birth control, but also PMS. Am in my late 20's. I feel awful. I'm so sad. I have severe anxiety now, and panic attacks, which I have never had. I've had to go on anti depressants. I can't live like this anymore. I want my life back. I'd much rather use condoms than feel like this. I also felt like my lymph nodes were swelling (in groin, underarm, and neck area), but after an exam, bloodwork, there was nothing found (no swollen lymph nodes).

Recently (about 3 weeks ago) I noticed a brown patch on my upper thigh near the crease. I don't think it started small and spread, as far as I know, it wasn't there one week, the next week it was. It looks like a light tan birthmark.

Has anyone else had this experience? I'm scared of Yaz now, but want to finish the last few of the pack so my period stays on track.

I actually had to have an MRI of my spine, brain, and a nerve conduction test to rule out all other possible diseases. After everything came back normal I looked into the Yaz possibility. I am 31 years old and in excellent physical shape. But now I have muscle weakness, pain in random parts of my body that come and go all day, and constant muscle twitching. Since my tests came back normal the doctors were wondering if it was stress related. I have more stress now because of all the crazy symptoms and the whole experience gave me anxiety. The pins and needles have become less since I stopped taking Yaz 2 1/2 weeks ago. My obgyn told me to wait 6 weeks after stopping the pill to see if my pain and weakness get better. She also put me on baby aspirin in case I was developing mirco blood clots in my body. That could be causing the pain in my hands and feet. I will never take any kind of birth control again! They need to invent a pill that men can take to prevent pregnancy!

I posted a couple of days ago. I just wanted to give an update. I went to the ER for leg craming and pain to rule out clots, and an EKG for heart palpitations. I stopped Yaz mid pack that very day. There could be several factors at work here, but I do not feel the anxiety and heart pounding, nervousness and knots in my stomach like I did for the last couple of weeks. Today (knock on wood) is the first day that I feel closer to my normal self than I have in a long time. When I told the dr. my background, she said the best thing to do at this point was to get off the pills. No more synthetic hormones for me again. Ever. I never, ever want to feel that way again.

I used to be on Yaz, I got a blood clot that was solid from hip to ankle in my left leg. They told me I am lucky to be alive. I have had to have thousands in medical testing, blood thinners,ect.... The tests showed that it was Yaz that caused it. In the year since I have watched the chat rooms and the bad things that are happening to women of all ages that take this Pill. I am not a sue everyone and thier brother type persons, but if there is a class action suit I will join it as I hope all of you will too.

Hey everyone. I just wanted to share my story and make sure people are aware of the dangers of this drug. Like many of you who have posted I too had blood clots in my lung caused by birth control, YAZ. I didn't have swollen legs so it was hard to diagnose. My symptoms were shortness of breath, I could barely do anything without getting out of breath, I also had a fast heart rate, and eventually a REALLY bad pain in my back that only got worse. If you have shortness of breath please, please let your doctor know and be sure to tell them you are on birth control and that blood clots in your lung don't show up on an xray. I spent a week in the hospital and now have to take blood thinners for who knows how long. But I am just happy to still be alive after hearing how many people this has happened to and that sometimes they weren't as lucky as I. In my opinion this drug needs to be taken off the market, it is too risky for something as stupid as having lighter periods. And if you don't want to get pregnant there are tons of other things you can do that won't possibly kill you.

My sister recently died at the age of 39 of a condition called pulmonary thromboembolism, which was caused by Yaz. If you are on Yaz and having any negative side effects, I suggest you get off of it. My sister was too young to die and I am now seeking legal counsel to see if there is anything that we can do about this taking her life. She has 3 children she left behind and her death has been a huge shock. I think it is unfair that pharmaceutical companies can place products on the market that have the slightest chance that they can alter your life so much and ultimately cause death.

I am recovering from a pulmonary embolism that I suffered after taking YAZ for three months. I was very ill and hospitalized for 5 days. I was misdiagnosed in an ER and my doctor caught the blood clot 5 days after my ER visit. I feel blessed just to be alive. I'm glad my doctor found the clot in my lung. I'm angry that drug companies don't do more to warn young women of the risks of bc pills. I had no idea I could die from YAZ.

I just left from getting an MRI and an MRV to see if i had any clots because of birth control.. Two weeks ago i went to get an eye exam and the doctor found i had swollen optic nerve in the eye and was sent to a specialist and the to a neology department which they believe it's clots from the birth control... but i'm waiting to see... but if so i think i through with all birth controls... I was happy with YAZ but you never know what it really does to your body... I was bless to go get an eye exam before like other had stokes...

look into hyperkalemia... it's elevated potassium levels caused by mixing Yaz and other potassium sparing drugs.

I also had a pulmonary embolism because of yaz. I am only 32 and other than endometriosis, in great health. The ER missed it the first time and thank God, my primary dr realized it. When I went back into the hospital, the dr. told me I almost died. I was in the hospital for 5 days and I just thank God that I lived through it to come home to my kids. When the warnings say slight risk, that is a serious understatement. According the paperwork this risk starts at age 35---that is misleading as well. I can never take hormones again--not that I would---and I am on blood thinners and waiting to find out for how long. This was the scariest thing that has ever happened to me. I will also be signing up for any class action suit that may come up.
