you sound like you are being payed by bayer for F sakes. have you not read all of these reports? when you start noticing that there is a problem, you might not even know it! look how many people ignored the symptoms, and the next thing they know, theyre in the hospital or dead! i dont think that pushing the fact that *some* people arent affected by this is very wise. if theres enough of a chance of dangerous side effects like this happening, to have so many people warn you about it, youre rolling the dice with false confidence every time you pop that pill, and its your LIFE you are gambling, not a few dollars. the answer is right in front of your nose! this stuff is dangerous! whether youre insensitive to its potential risks or not

Hi all, I'm here reading this discussion after having just been to see my doctor. I have been on Yaz (because I was allergic to 5 other pills I tried before) for 5 years and had no problems until last week. Last week I had my first migraine since I was 10 (only had one them then), I spent the day in bed and was fine.
Today when I got to work I lost 1/3 of the vision in my left eye (it was silvery looking) which came back after about 2 hours and then I had a migraine. I didn't think much of it all but my boss (a paramedic) suggested I see a doctor to get something to manage the pain and nausea. It took to doctor 2 seconds to diagnose me and pin down the cause. The silver vision is called an aura which is a precursor to a migraine (and other thinks like seizures). The doctor told me that the pill causes the blood to clot and that I am at risk of having a stroke. I stop taking Yaz as of today in hopes of preventing a stroke in the immediate future. When I got home I had a read through the little book that comes with Yaz pills and there it was in black ink, "unusual headaches or migraines that are worse than usual", "sudden problems with eyesight" and 2 whole pages on thrombosis (blood clots that may block vessels).
I'm now taking Aspalgin, Maxalt and Maxalone for the migraines and nausea, have immediately stopped taking Yaz (but can consider alternative contraceptives latter e.g. implant) and am monitoring for stroke symptoms.
I was lucky, and I'm sorry for others who have not been. Each to their own opinion but this was my experience and I wanted to share it with others.

Hi Sandy, I'm not a pharmacist nor a doctor but I can tell you with 100% certainty that Yaz is different to other pills. It active ingredients and ratios are different and it is designed to act differently in the body.
Just now I went to the official Yaz website and the following warning jumped up on the screen:
"YAZ increases the risk of serious conditions including blood clots, stroke, and heart attack. These can be life-threatening or lead to permanent disability. The risk of blood clots is highest during the first year of use. This increased risk is highest when you first start taking birth control pills and when you restart the same or different birth control pills after not using them for a month or more. Users of drospirenone-containing pills (like YAZ) may have a higher risk of blood clots than users of birth control pills that do not contain drospirenone. Talk to your healthcare provider about your risk of blood clots before deciding which Pill is right for you. In addition, drospirenone is a different kind of hormone that for some may increase potassium too much. Consult your healthcare provider if you are on daily long-term treatment for a chronic condition with medications that may also increase potassium (see below), as you should have a blood test to check your potassium level during the first month of taking YAZ."
I would suggest reading the documents on this website (http://www.bayer.com.au/scripts/pages/en/bayerrsquos_products/index.php?aktion=details&id=557&l1=Bayer%20HealthCare&l2=) for more information and speak to a pharmacist.

Hi all -thanks so much for your posts. I've been on Yaz in the last 1.5 months and was really excited that I finally didn't have to have a period. Anyway in the last couple of weeks, I've had migraines, nausea, period pain. The pelvic pain has gotten worse and I now have vaginal bleeding when I'm not supposed to. The instructions says for me to stop taking it and then i thought i would do a quick search on the net on other's experiences. Low and behold, I feel angry that this is till on the market ad my doctor did not hesitate to prescribe it to me. I also found this website regarding lawsuits against Bayer: http://www.drugwatch.com/yaz/. Anyway, thanks again as your experiences confirmed for me that it's a good idea to stop taking it. And you might have saved me a stroke and God knows what else.

Hi, My wife at the age of 41yrs suffered a massive stroke and she had been using the yaz pill for about 8 months prior to that. The dotors said that they do not know what caused the stroke. Is there a way to determine whether it was yaz or not? Please help. Kirkland Mackey

I am so very sorry for the suffering and loses experienced due to the horrible poison 'YAZ' it breaks my heart to realize how dangerous this drug is and that it's still common on the maket. At the young age of 13, my mother forced me to start taking YAZ, in fear that I'd get pregnant young like she did. I was very reluctant until I had been taking it for a few months and had lighter periods, less acne, and no menstrual cramps. Because of this and my unwant to get pregnant, I stayed on YAZ for almost 7 years. I quit taking it about 6 months ago, because I noticed I was having unexplainable stomach pains and irregular digestion, which I believed was from the YAZ, since it kills the good flora in your intestines. Not even a month after being off the pill, I had severe cramps around my ovaries even when not on period, heavy bleeding, severe acne, numbness and tingling in back, neck, shoulders and develpoed a yeast infection that will not go away despite medicine, diet change, ect. Now, six month later, I'm still developing worse symptoms. The lymph nodes under my right armpit is so swollen and tender and it hurts 24/7 (I have an upcoming doctor appointment for it) shortness of breathe I can't even take a deep breathe without getting pinching feeling in my lungs and sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night unable to catch my breathe unless I use an albuterol inhaler. And on top of this, all of my original symptoms are still there including yeast infection and messed up periods. I deeply regret ever taking this medication, as I was not even aware of how serious the side effects are. Now I am tired, depressed, no sex drive, can't breathe, chronic migraines, in constant pain and I feel hopeless. I'm glad I found this website so I could share my experience and realize I'm not alone on this horrible journey to recovery from YAZ. I am only 20 years old I, nor anyone else should ever have to go through this. Please stay away from it, it is very very dangerous even if you have no symptoms, I can almost guarantee at some point you will so listen to your body
