I've been on Yaz for about 1 and 1/2 months. I'm doing two months of it to try to regulate my periods so we can try to conceive. All of thse scare me so much. I've never taken BCP's or any longer-term meds in the past before for this exact reason...I just don't think our bodies are meant to handle man-made pills, etc. BUT, we want to have a baby...and I'm so irregular with PCOS and all. I'm very healthy, eat well, am a good weight, etc, so I'm hoping things will be okay for the next two weeks until I'm done with this. If this doesn't work though ,I think I'm done. This is all just too scary!! Lately I've been having more and more hotheadedness, so that really scares me too! Sorry to hear about your situations! I know these things are bad!!

I was on yaz for 2 wks before I had my stroke related to it. The Dr at the hospital informed my family that I just fell and hit my head which caused me to black out. It was later determained that it was caused from the yaz after I developed a clot that went from my lt knee across my abd to my rt thigh and into my lt lung with no signs or symptopms. I how have a green filter in and am on coumindon for the rest of my life. I was in good health untill this, and have never been a smoker. The VA DRs who discovered the clots have run every test known to man regaurding cloting factiors and they have all been normal. Yaz is a very dangerous drug and should not be used by any one.

I have read, all of these posts regarding everyone's reactions to Yaz and the resulting suffering which all of you or loved ones have endured. I also was on YAZ and was just diagnosed with a PE and am now off YAZ and am on blood thinners.

I just wanted to let everyone here know that I found an attorney who is gearing up with a national firm to pursue litigation against Bayer, the maker of Yaz. I called toll free 877 FDA WARNS (877.332.9276) and received a free evalauation by one of the lawyers.

FYI -- The FDA has warned that this product can lead to increased levels of postassium in high risk women, which can be dangerous. In particular, if a woman's postassium levels are too high, it can cause heart attack, stroke, blood clot or seizure.

After years of being on Ortho-Cept with no problems, my doctor switched me to Yaz. I had nothing but problems on Yaz. Major mood swings, depression, weight gain (10 pounds), lack of sex drive and I also suffered a minor stoke. I highly recommend anyone thinking about taking it, DON'T.

I was on Ortho-Tricyclen for years, literally about 10. Then, my doctor switched me to Yaz. I had horrible side affects--headaches and mood swings, then pains over my body. Then, one day the pain was so bad in my leg that I couldn't walk; the pain progressed more and more over the next few days. Finally, after doing an ultrasound, I had 2 DVTs in my leg. I knew that BC could cause blod clots, but I had been on BC for over a decade with Orth-Tricyclen, and I didn't think that Yaz would be that different. It definitely was different and not in a good way. I would NEVER recommend this for anyone. Stay away from Yaz!!! I wish that I would've read these posts before starting Yaz.

I was just hosptialized from a pulminary embolisum. (blood clot in my lung) I have used Yaz for about a yr. The benefits of this birth control are not worth the risks. I have severe PMS and with Yaz I had some relief. But if I wouldve known I would have spent three days in the hospital to come home and give myself injections and go to the doctor everyday to get blood taken I wouldnt have thought twice about NOT taking it. There is a class action going on.

I have been on yaz for almost 3 years. It did not help me clear acne or any other benefits. Only light periods. I still get head aches and other things that comes along with having a period. My reason for taking this pill was to help with my heavy periods. I have been wanting to stop taking the pill for some time now but am worried about having the heavy periods back. I came upon this website/message board looking for an answer and clearly now I know I will get of this pill starting today. I was wondering how bad these hormones could be. I do have symptoms of numbness and lately a twitching under my eye that lasts for near a month now and occurs 6X in a hour. I hope this is not related to the pills. It is sad and unfortunate what some of you have gone through. I wish you al the best. Thank you for sharing your stories and being a great help.

I have been on Yaz for almost 2 years. I moved from Loestrin to Yaz. I am fortunate that I have not experienced any side effects, and have been very happy with it. I was only on Loestrin for a couple months before switching. This was also my first experiences with b/c as a 40 year old woman. I am taking it for fibroids/heavy bleeding and that has controlled that nicely.

I would like to point out that what this person is saying may in fact be incorrect. I'm not a doctor or even in the med field but I think most people know that the LEFT side of your brain controls the RIGHT side of your body and vice versa. for you to say that you had "numbness in my right arm" and that it was due to "a major blood clot in the right side of my brain" You are mistaken. Either you had numbness on the left side due to a clot in the right or you had a clot in the left leaving you numb in the right. Or maybe perhaps you are one of those who are a pathological liar. They say pathological liars "may be somewhat of a hypochondriac. This can come in especially useful when caught in a lie, for example, they can claim that they have been sick, or that there's some mysteriously "illness" that has them all stressed out. It's another excuse tool for their behavior."

Funny that you feel that the person who posted her story dated 7-3-09 might have her facts mixed up. I, too, had a stroke from taking Yaz. I am currently 37 years old but in october of 2007, I suffered a stroke. I remember the facts vividly up to the point of the seizure. I rememeber my husband and children eating dinner. I didn't eat because I just wasn't feeling well. You see, I had just been released from my local hospital the night before. (I had been admitted for "dehydration". At least, that's what they thought because I had a terrible headache.) I had decided to leave the dining area and go sit on our couch when I felt dizzy and my left arm went numb. I was told that my daughter came in and was talking to me for a few minutes and then I had a seizure. I was taken to our local hospital and had a few more seizures. After a CT scan, my family was told that I had bleeding in my brain and a blood clot in the left side of my brain and called this a Sinus Venous Thrombosis. I was intubated and placed on a ventilator and flown to UW-Madison Hospital. They didn't know if I would live. I did wake up about 24 hours later. I was sent home on Lovenox injections, coumadin, and heavy doses of seizure medication. I was off work for 3 months. I have had follow-up scans that show the clot scarred into the vessel. (They thought the blood thinners would have thinned out the clot within a month or so.) I am disappointed in myself to think that I had to accept this until I saw an ad on TV that alerted me to a class action suit. This has really scarred my family especially my children who saw everything that night.

i am a 21 year old girl who was diagnosed with a solid mid-calf to hip DVT in December 2008. It all started when i had groin/leg and back pain, but I just figured that my sciatic nerve was being pinched. This went on for about 2 days until i woke up one morning and my leg was swollen and purple. I work at a doctor's office, so i went to work and asked one of the PA's what he thought. He said he though it could be a DVT, so i immediately went to my Doctor's office. The Doctor said he though i was just having "low back pain" but since my leg was swollen and purple he sent me to the hospital for a Doppler Ultrasound. The technician doing my ultrasound was a little shocked because my leg was swollen so big and was ice cold. Come to find out the clot was from mid-calf up past my hip and was completely blocking off any circulation to my leg. They admitted me to the hospital and started me on Heparin and Coumadin. Once my levels were to the therapeutic range (5 days), my Doctor sent me home and said i would probably be on bedrest for about 6 months while this clot dissolved. So i went home very discouraged.

My doctor told me that as long as i kept my leg elevated, the swelling should go down. After a week and no subsidence of the swelling, i called my doctor and he told me to go back to the ER. My doctor was out of town, so he had the other on-call doctor come visit me (thank goodness). After discussion with him he said that he thought there was a procedure where you they could surgically dissolve the clot. Two surgeries later, 2 days in ICU, 6 months on Coumadin and $100,000+ later, i am clot free. As i have no family history of DVT, my doctor just took me off Coumadin and is running blood work to see if this is possibly hereditary or caused by Yaz.

I was only on Yaz for 4 months, but had NO health problems before this. I know the risks, but i agree that there are way too many cases for this to be a "coincidence". After reading these stories, it reminded me of an incident that i had after i returned home from the hospital. I was standing in the kitchen and suddenly i peed my pants (sorry, i couldn't spare the detail lol) and instantly got a migraine. Before that i had no urge to use the restroom and felt just fine. I didn't think much of it then, but now I'm wondering if this was possibly a mini stroke?

Sorry for the long post, i just think its important to know all the symptoms and history.

i have been on yaz for 4 days.. and I feel sick to my stomache every single day. Almost constantly. It makes me unbelievably sleepy. And today which really started to worry me, I have developed lower back pains. I've heard of many people getting blood clots from this medication which concerns me considering after reading the pamphlet i am at higher risk. I do not know what to do since this BC was perscribed to me because of high testosterone levels in my body. my back hurts so much i think I may stop taking this medication and notify my doctor.

I'm at the end of the month for my first pack of Yaz.... And now I am on day 3 of placebo. I'm feeling the most horrendous neck pain I've ever felt. The only time I've ever had pain similar to this was before I developed a flu. The difference is, a muscle relaxer seems to be helping this time but it's lasted 2 days so far. I have yet to notice any other awkward pains in my body but I am fearful that the neck pain is being caused by this BC.
