I was on yaz for about a year. 1 month in I started getting migraines which I'd never had before and then had a Tia (mini stroke) at age 27. I was told this was simply a " migraine with aura" but didn't sound right as I had little memory of the event & experienced inability to speak for several minutes, blackout, & no headache so I got a second opinion. No lasting damage but was an extremely frightening experience and i will never take birth control pills again.

I am curious to know if anyone has experienced lactation while on Yaz? Or elevated prolactin levels? or kidney problems since being on this medication. My 18yo daughter was on Yaz and is now being investigated for elevated prolactin levels and I am wondering if there was a link to her being on the Yaz birth control pill. She has discontinued it but her level has gone up again in her most recent bloodwork. I am aware that the another cause may be associated with her pituitary gland but was curious about it possibly being a side effect of the Yaz pill?

Ok, I've read all of the posts and I'm very nervous about Yaz.  Mt step daughter, who just turned 13, has been having some issues with mild acne.  Her mother took her to a doctor yesterday and she was prescribed Yaz.  I started researching the product due to the enormous negative things I have heard in the past regarding Yaz, but my step-daughter is insistent on trying it anyway.  I realize that every product has side effects, but these ones are very dangerous, and I was wondering if anyone on here has had any experiences at the young age of 13.  She hasn't tried Proactiv, which works great for me, because all her friends are on birth control for acne problems, and she wants to fit in with them.  Obviously I have no say in the subject, as her mother will not listen, and is encouraging her to start with birth control to clear up the acne.  I am very hesitant, especially at her age, and wonder why in the world a doctor wouldn't want to exhaust other methods that don't mess with her body, first.  I think it just goes to show you that professionals aren't thinking about what is really best for a young person.  They just want to push the drugs.  This Doctor also informed my step-daughter that Proactiv doesn't work, and this was the only thing for her to try.  What?  Really?  I have seen Proactiv work miracles, with me, and with many friends of mine, and their teenage children.  How will these kids know if they don't try?  I'm not saying that this won't work for her and that it would be a great product, but I have serious doubts.  Especially after reading these posts.  I would love to hear some feedback regarding Yaz involving young girls.  Thank you : )

Yaz is awful. It never got rid of acne, just gave me acne. Also, made me sick. I couldn't eat, drink, or exercise because of it. I kept thinking I was just reacting to something, but I got off Yaz and felt so much better. But now I think I'm suffering from it. I am having really bad skin problems and get numbness randomly even just sitting down!

When I started taking yaz i was a very healthy 23 year old. I ran at least four miles a day, did not smoke and lived a normal life. About six months into using yaz I woke up one day not feeling well I had the worst head ache of my life. I took some advil and went on with my day. i was sitting in class later that day when all of a sudden i had the worst exploding feeling in the left side of my brain and lost all feeling on the whole left side of my body then momentarily blacked out. I went to the hospital where they told me that it was most like just a sever migrain and that I was to young to have a stroke and sent me home. The next two days I felt so terrible i literally thought i was going to die. I had no strength nor feeling in my whole left side and continued to have the worst head ache imaginable. I was readmitted where they gave me a spinal tap, mri, mrv and many other tests with no explanation accept to meet with a neorologist. That doctor immediately took me off of yaz and said that I could not be on birth control ever again. Now a year and a half later I still have less motor control in my right arm and frequently have numbness. I no longer am a competitive athlete because of this. Yaz has ruined a lot for me. Please do not take this form of birth control.

The FDA just updated the label for Yaz, yasmin and other oral bcs because of the risk of blood clots. This new class of oral contraceptives (using drospirenone) has received a lot of negative attention, and I think I'd rather stick to older bcs than take the risk

Although Yaz has put up a new label warning of side effects the drug is still dangerous. Cases have begun to settle and Yaz maker Bayer is paying what will end up being low amounts to all victims of life threatening strokes and blood clots. Please read this article and share. The more women who come out who have suffered life threatening side effects and bring suit against the company the higher the settlement amounts that Bayer will be forced to pay.

Because of the aggressive Yaz advertising many young women began taking the drug in early stages of manufacturing. I began taking the drug at age 18 and suffered from many negative side effects. The company has begun settlements and the amounts that Bayer is offering are too low to even cover the medical costs that many young women accrued when suffering from strokes and blood clots. If you or a friend have suffered from negative side effects of Yaz please contact and attorney. I now work for an attorney who is very experienced in litigating these cases and other similar ones and can help if any of you need help looking at your options. Even though Yaz has changed its warnings it has not changed its formula and the new Beyaz drug is just as dangerous with the added folic acid which will not prevent strokes.

Hi,
I've been taking Yaz for over 5 years..During all those years I used to feel weird, numbness, heart pain, feeling depressed but I do believe that what saved me was the fact that I thought it was all stress related and tried to work it out through excercice..
Now, can you please tell me what kind of tests I should have to see Yaz is all "old story" and completely out of my body..even now, 2 years after completely stopping it I still feel some weird "feelings" sometimes.
please let me know if there any specific dr I should visit..

Hello... my name is Brittany. I have been taking Yaz for 3-4 years now and didn't really have a problem with it I thought. Then I started having really bad blood clots and I didnt really think nothing of it. Just recently I had to go to the hospital 2x in the past week. When I woke up oneday I went to the bathroom and I had such sever pain in my lower and upper abdomin. I could not WALK! My bf had to carry me to the car. I would not stop vomiting and having diarreah. I went to the hospital and they couldnt find anything wrong, i was hurting and sick for a week and still am. They told me to go to the OB/GYN in FL. I went. I told them the problems I was having and told them I stopped taking the birth control because they weren't making me feel to good. They told me to keep taking them (yaz) and to come back in 4 weeks for a check-up. I will never take Yaz again. This is a bad birth control pill!
