I got engaged last summer and my family situation means that wedding planning is a nightmare. I have always been an anxious personality but it bagan to get worse. In October I started taking 50mg sertraline. I began exercise classes to try and slim for wedding and instead of losing weight I started to gain. my eating was the same or less and exercise increased and still weight gain. I gave up bread, alcohol (Im quite a heavy wine drinker so was sure this would aid weight loss) and gave up sugar in my tea (I take 4 spoons and drink a lot of tea)...by end of January I hadn't lost ANYTHING! I finally gave up and stopped the sertraline cold turkey a week ago as the wedding is in 50 days and I'm desperate to sort weight out for honeymoon. IM so angry I ever took it and it ruined my weight loss plans for wedding. I keep getting dizziness and lightheadedness but nothing I cant handle. Hopefully it stops and with the help of meal replacement shakes (a desperate measure I hoped to avoid by starting exercise regime in plenty of time) I can loose a little befoe the wedding mid august

Hi- I’m 4.5 months off of Zoloft after gaining 15lbs in 3 months. I’ve been very conscience about what I eat and have yet to lose even 1lb. It’s so frustrating. My 30th birthday is in one month and I weigh as much as I did the day that I gave birth. Helpppp

Feel the same way!! Started with lexapro in fall of 13, no issues with weight. Had to go on Zoloft in winter of 14.... weight was about 128lb, summer of 15 weight jumped to 145lb. Over the next year another 10lbs. Maintained for a while...not creeping up more. Been on 100mg of Zoloft for the last 3 years. Just today, my new PCP suggested I could try to taper, had never thought that 30lb weight gain would be caused by something that made me feel better mentally.
Started my taper tonight!! With an open mind....lol I hope.

I was on 200mg of Zoloft for many years, I honestly couldn't tell you how many probably about a decade.I have been decreasing the dosage for a few months now, and currently down to 25mg, want to come off of meds if I know longer need them and also started having palpitations, which I dont think were a result of the Zoloft, but it can cause them.......I am gaining weight big time..a little over 10 pounds so far, my diet hasn't changed, if anything I am eating less than I did, I was not a bad eater to begin with, I am a vegetarian, dont eat fast food, or fried food, I try to eat a high protein, high fiber diet ...I am still walking every day, and just as active if not more than I was before, as spring has finally arrived..I cant wear any of my jeans as they are too uncomfortable and I now have a muffin top with the pants, ...last summer they were baggy on me when I was 118-119, I am now 130....5'4" Oh well, not going to stop me from enjoying some chilled M&M's after my dinner... lol.

Thank you for your response. Ever since I began taking Zoloft, I've been gaining weight. Went from 118lbs to 129lbs in a very short time. I can't seem to get the weight off , no matter what I do. I' m going to stop the Zoloft. It really hasn't been helping me anyway. God Bless You!

Is it possible to gain weight when taking sertraline and prozac at the same time? If so, when I come off them, how long will it take to lose the weight?
