People get on the shot at 16 so they won't have periods & less cramps. Sometimes it has nothing to do with having sex.

Yes the depo makes you lose weight and gain weight, I have the depo shots many times and sometimes I lose weight and other times I have gain weight! I'm happy when it help me lose weight more, you can eat as much as you like and look good! It suxs when it makes you gain weight even eating small, your just pile on the pounds! Every time I'its taking my period Away!

Hi Skyhigh420171365 I have been on Depo shot for one year now. I weighed 120 lbs when I got my first shot every three months that I have been back my weight has decreased I now weigh 107 lbs!! I asked the nurse about it making you LOSE weight because everyone else GAINS weight! she said it is one of those like 1 in 3 million people things! I am sure that I am that 1 in 3 million person the proof is in my charts! I eat like a horse and I just cannot seem to hold onto any of the weight gain! Two weeks ago I weighed 104 ( I am 5'6 ) I have been eating like crazy all day evryday trying my hardest to gain 20 lbs and I gained three!!! I will prob weigh 104 again next week! I love the depo because I dont get periods and it helps with face breakouts and I dont have any plans to actually stop getting it but I wish that some statistics about LOSING weight where available, I am not a doctor but even the nurse questioned it because I steadily kept losing weight each month!

WOW! I am so skinny its sick too! I weighed 120 lbs ( I have always been a smaller frame I am 5'6 I have never gotten over 130 ) I steadily lost weight each time I got the shot I weighed 104 two weeks ago I have been eating everything in site and drinking high calorie protein drinks doing my best to GAIN some weight! I gained 3 lbs during the splurge and I can guarantee I will lose it if I dont continue to eat like a horse!! I actually had a woman that I dont evenknow send me a message saying she was worried about me that I needed to eat!!!! Wow the rudest thing ever!! Hello, I am 26 yrs old and been on and off the depo shot for ten yrs. I as well lose weight on the depo I was off for 3 yrs and was at 183 pounds I am pretty tall so its a perfect weight for me nice but hips and thighs. I just had my second shot and am already down to 165 pounds, I also have other side effects such as headaches and repeat yeast infections. I as well love the depo because I dont have a period and dont have to keep up with taking it everyday but as for me this will be my last shot my bf also complains of my butt shrinking and I hate it as well. Prob not much of help just figured I would let you know your not completely alone and not many others experience the weight loss

There are many smaller and younger women here that have lost weight on it. I am neither 35 years old 3 kids 1 grown. Was 215lb when I started taking the shots. The reason was not birth control. Have have an endometrial ablation and a tubal ligation. Mine is to prevent/postpone a hysterectomy. I have had them every 6 weeks since mid summer. Now having to move to 5 weeks. I have lost each shot. Now 188lb. The only other side effects I have noticed is the major breast tenderness and some extra light headedness when standing. I believethe weight loss is due to me already having a metabolic disorder that makes me fluctuate in weight my whole life. One part being a hormonal imbalance. I think my body needs the bost of progesterone. Any other older or fuller figured women out there losing weight?

I just got the shot a month and a half ago, I'm petite to begin with due to my fast metabolism ig I've always been really thin. I'm 18 yro and when I got the shot I weighed 98, I now weigh 92. I never thought my weight lose was bc of my fast metabolism, even tho I do lose weight randomly sometimes.. But this is just too much. Like it's normal for me when I lose 2 or 4 pounds a month but I eat alot and I easily gain it back in a week or so.. My weights always been in the 90's no more no less. And I've dropped to 92 and I'm afraid I'm getting skinner, I haven't changed anything I still eat the same amount. Yeah I know I was still skinny before but I had a nice body my butt and boobs were nice my boyfriend and friends always told me. Now my pants fit me lose its stressful.. So I decided tomorrow im going to tell my doctor I don't want the shot any more. I just can't with this its bothering me.

I've been on the shot for a couple months (almost due for my second shot) and I've lost a gd 10lbs or more! I heard ppl gained weight on it and that worried me, but I've lost weight! I've not stopped bleeding tho n wonder if that's a reason for the weight loss. However, my appetite has dropped. I just can't eat a lot at all.
