I began several years ago with hyperthyroidism.I couln't keep my weight on.My parents forced me to go to the dr.I was told that it was unhealthy and my heart was being over worked.I only slept about 4 hours a day.I had more energy than I knew what to do with.My heart beat could be felt in throat.I (with much hesitation) agreed to take radio active iodine to help my condition.I had an allergic reaction to the iodine and it landed me in the hospital with my throat almost swollen shut.Since this time, I now have hypothyroidism.I gained 70 pounds and take Synthroid everyday.I have struggled with getting the extra poundage off for years. It seemed I didn't have any energy to do anything after working all day.I decided to try a strategy and as bad as it was it worked for a while-3 cups of coffee in the am.Mountain Dew at lunch-2 more cups of coffee in the evenng and then bed by 10:00.I spread my caffeine intake out just to make it through a day.Well I finally got fed up and my Dr wouldn't up my synthroid dosage.I begged him.He said he couldn't because of my heart.I figured I had to do something myself.I was just getting bigger and bigger.I started taking a multi vitamin with my coffee in the a m.I got a little more energy.Water all through the day with fruits and veggies only (except for turkey).1 cup of coffee as soon as I come in from work. Then I did 45 minuted-1 hour of Zumba workouts.I usually ate oatmeal or a bowl of cereal for dinner.Suddenly I started to not have to have the coffee and caffeine.I had energy. I slept at night and lost 47 pounds in 5 months. My hooray ended though. My last appointment my synthroid dosage was lowered, so I am not losing the weight anymore. It seems that losing the weight so rapidly actually caused my levels to be to high.I asked the DR to leave me at the same dosage until I finished losing the rest of my weight. He said he couldn't.I could still lose the weight but it would be harder and take a little longer (you think?).I have lowered my caloric intake and the weight is still stabilized.I am waking up 3 times at least at night and my energy is lagging.I have another 30 pounds to lose and now I have no clue how to do it.Less calories and more exercise is supposed to do the trick. That's not working.Anyone have any suggestions?
