Many people get addicted to pain killers for reasons you describe indirectly, but pain killers should not be used to induce feelings of euphoria at all; they're there to, well, reduce pain! The best pain killers for a person with pain meet their need to reduce their pain without causing addiction! Addiction to prescription pain killers is now a serious issue, not just among people who actually need them to reduce pain but also among people who use them recreationally.
Don't fall into that trap, friend, because it may be a lot harder to get out of than you think.
