Hi, I would like you to explain me something. My father is 60 years old and he has been scheduled for hepatic arteriography. It seems that his liver has been damaged badly, even though he stopped drinking more than five years ago. Anyway, it looks like CT will be performed during h. arteriography. Why is that additional examination done?

Well, it looks like his liver is in real bad shape. Basically, CT performed while hepatic arteriography is done will help the doctors in discovering possible tumors in the liver structure. In this way, when discovered, early tumors can be treated on time. Still, that does not mean that your father has this condition, but better to check that out now.
