Hello, I would like some help considering my father’s help. He is 65 years old and even though he quit drinking almost decade ago, it looks like it was too late for his liver. It sustained severe damage and now he has to undergo some examination to for the doctors to determine the true condition of his liver. Could liver biopsy cause some sort of infection?

Well, it should not. I mean, it is something that has to be done to see what to do next. Liver biopsy is used not only for those who had alcohol problems, but each time when there is a suspicion of some diseases (liver disease, Wilson disease, autoimmune liver disease, hepatitis, cancer etc).
