Hey Everyone,
I'm 34 years old and just had a tonsillectomy on Nov 29th. It's my 7th day post-op. It hasn't been the most pleasant experience, to say the least, but it's getting better each day. I've found the answers to a lot of questions I had regarding post-op, which were very helpful. I am ALSO having problems with taste. Anything sweet, tastes very bitter. Everything also seems WAY saltier than it should be. I'm hoping that this will go away. I haven't been able to eat solid foods without MUCH difficulty, which leads me to my question. Does anyone else have major tongue pain? It started on the second night. It was so painful, I thought I'd die! Swallowing was almost impossilbe. It wasn't so much my throat (which was also very painful, don't get me wrong!), but it was using the muscles in my tongue to swallow. It's definitely better now, but I still can't swallow anything other than soup, smoothies and water without MAJOR pain. The pain lasts for about a half an hour afterwards. I'm SO hungry! I'm thin to begin with and I'm down 8 pounds already. I know I have another week or so before I'm supposed to feel close to normal. Anyone else have this? Any suggestions? Should I be trying to talk more or stretch it somehow, exercises??? I know it sounds crazy, but I'm starting to lose my mind over it!!! Thank you so much!! Amy
