I have had issues with urination now for 6yrs, been catheterising for 2 of those solid. My urologist said there was nothing he could do, as my prostate is 250grams.
I found this forum about 18mhts ago and mentioned the GL to him, he admitted he had forgotten about it. Not too many guys do that here in Australia, so he refered to a Dr in another city, and things were put into motion.
After seeing the new specialist, I started to have doubts, I was only 48, I could handle what I was doing, but I didnt want to handle the potential losses.
Anyway, surgery took place 6 days ago. Why did I wait, the results so far are sensational, if nothing else I can wee again, I dont think any loss will make that a bad thing.
The post operative pain following surgery was severe, but I reckon that was because of the size of the catheter that was in.
Within a few hours I was awake and alert and only feeling mildly uncomfortable.
I slept thru the night, in the morning, 6am, the Catheter was removed, that was a bit nasty, but over and done with. Was passing urine shortly after that, and left the hospital at 10am. Passing urine for the rest of the day was pretty painful, but I had expected that, otherwise was in minimal discomfort.
Bleeding stopped within 4 days, urgency has reduced considerably, Ive only been caught a couple of times and wet myself, but have a pad so that took care of that, but no leaking otherwise.
I still have a dull ache around the base of my penis, but again, I would have epxected that too, but probably expecting worse.
Overall, Im amazed how quickly I have gotten over the worst of it, and kicking myself for not doing it sooner, but I didnt, so now I have.
Ill ad to this post in a few weeks, let you know how things have gone, not game to have sex yet, that ache makes me think that is not a good idea.
I always had retrograde ejaculation before anyway, but if I used 60mg of Ephidrine 30mins or so before having sex, I didnt, so Dr is confident the same thing will happen, if not, well, I can wee on my own, thats worth a lot.

I am really glad that you are happy with your new procedure and that it is working out so well for you! I know it's always sort of worrisome going into surgery and many people choose not to do it. Can you tell us a little more about the positives and the negatives? IT sounds to me like the catheter part was the most painful, but were there any good parts to the surgery too? Keep us posted!
