I have been struggling with this night pain for more than a year and a half, and im finally getting to the bottom of it. I started by trying to elimate all sorts of food like glutten, dairy but it dis not improve my condition. I then saw a naturopath and did an allergy test and found that I was allergic to soy. When I eliminated soy from my diet, I saw an improvement in the bloating during the day but the night pain remained. I also did a bowel cleansing diet with supplements to kill all parasites and rebuild the lining of my guts, still no progress.
Finally, I decided to start walking everyday for at least 20 minutes and breathe deeply expending my belly to create movement inside and it seemed to work. No more pain in the morning when I do this simple exercise.
Please try also and let know. I hope this can help someone.

Your issue sounds a lot worse than just inflammation, but it does not mean that it can not be potentially cured. Your issue sounds like a gall stone, kidney stone, an ulcler, or something along those lines. I would recommended that you get your primary care to send you to a specialist (Gastroenterologist) ASAP. The primary care will not know what is wrong, and if he suggest that he does, you should 'still' go see a specialist ASAP. -J

My 8 yr old daughter has been suffering from these pains at night - usually about 4 nights in a row, then nothing for a couple of weeks, then another attack again. We went to the chemist and he said it was possibly abdominal migraines. Heat packs and pain killers don't seem to do much so we tried different techniques to get rid of any trapped wind (as I read on here). That has worked so far - last night was hers and my first full night sleep in a week. I hope this is the cure!

I am a little out of my element on this one because your daughter's issue does not sound like inflammation; a heat or cold pack would have made some difference if it was. It is strange that the pain goes away and then comes back. At first I was thinking that it might be some sort of intestinal obstruction, but the fact that her pain lasts 4 full days and then goes away points to something that she may be eating at those times. She may be allergic to something that you are feeding her. If I were you I would not waste time; take it from me, stomach and intestinal pain can be excruciating. I would ask her primary care doctor to send her for a CT scan to see if there is an obstruction; the primary care may insist that you see a specialist (gastroenterologist) first though, which is a good idea either way, so try to schedule both asap. In the few days that you are waiting to see the specialist if I were you, I would record every single thing that your daughter eats...(everything), right down to how much water she drinks and where she drinks it from; believe it or not water bound microbes from tap water are a huge cause of disease and illness right here in the US. They can be absorbed through our skin or by drinking the water. If she has another pain attack, go straight to the log and see what was different; if there is no obvious conclusion perhaps the CT or specialist will be able to help; just don't let him put her on the first drug that comes to his mind without your researching it. Hope this helps. -J

Far be it for me to go against a doctor's action, but I have to tell you that he only treated the symptoms in stead of the source of the problem. It will be important for you to find out what is causing the spasms so to eliminate it instead of taking medications that have long lists of side effects. My doctor tried to give me anti-spasm medication as well when my pain became too much to handle, but the medication made me very nauseous and foggy, and didn't treat the cause of the problem. The pain that your daughter has is her body trying to tell itself that there is a problem, and anti-spasm medication will essentially just be like telling that danger flag to "keep quiet and don't worry about it" Also, it should be mentioned that a diagnosis of "over active digestive track" is a over-generalized diagnosis that could point to a great number of causes. She could have pyloric atresia, which is when the pyloric the valve in between the stomach and intestine becomes inflamed to the point where the stomach has to push and squeeze until the food finally leaves the stomach into the intestine; the valve can become inflamed from eating inflammatory foods like omega-6 fats (vegetable oils), or from loss of the protective lining. Either way a gastroenterologist would have better insight. Good luck.
