She did PAP on Dec. 15th = results fine. She did blood work and said my TSH was up to 7 and it had been down around 1.4 when September blood work done. Advised I make appointmet with my endocrinologist. She also said sometimes switching to a generic BD pi;; can have an affect and to stop the generic I was on and start on the Loestrin she gave me on Sunday. I saw her on a Wednesday and stopped pill, and by saturday I was gushing. On Sunday Dec. 19th started the new pill pack but no resolution to bleeding. Called her Dec. 20th and she said to take 800 mg Ibuprofen every 8 hours, and to double up on the pill, and she gave me a referral for a gyn off base. The bleeding lessened, but when i would stop the ibuprofen and doubling the pill, it would resume and head towars getting heavy again. Bleeding would alternate between light and heavy abd the gyn practionair said to stay on the pill, no break, until I saw the gyn. She also prescribed an iron supplement. And put in a referral for a transvaginal and pelvic ultrasound.
Saw the gyn on Tues Jan. 4th. She did not examine me. said she would have to do uterine biopsy because it would be medical malpractice if she did not. I said could we wait to see results of ultrasound. She was displeased, and handed me a prescrition for Megace (megestrol). Said no side effects, even when I asked about weight gain - which obviously I don';t need since I am about 50 pounds overweight. When I picked up Rx and read info sheet that said it was to treat tumors of the uterus and that it was also given to AIDS and cancer patients to increase appetite, i freaked out and called the gyn practioner on base. She said she would put in a refferal for another gyn, sorry for the bad experience, and to not take the megace.
The next day Jan. 5th i saw the Endocrinologist. He gave me an Rx for .200 Synthroid and said that it could very well be teh cause of my bleeding, and he would hold off on a biopsy until I'd had ultrasound. He said to not take the Megace. I got referral that day for the 2nd gyn and made an appointment for Jan. 10. The next day I went back to the gyn practioner and asked her to do the uterine biopsy, as it sounded like I would be heading down that path anyway and I had known her for years and felt more comfortable having her do it. She said she did three sweeps/samples but on one she just pulled out a big dried clot. At that point, I had only been on the new higher Synthroid for one day.
On Jan. 6th I had the two types of ultrasound and they said they would forward results to the new gyn and the gyn practioner. On Jan. 10th, yesterday, I saw the new gyn. She had received the results of the ultrasound and said it showed 3 fibroids, but did not show whether inside or in the walls. By now my bleeding was almost down to nothing - could leave a tampon in 24 hours and just have a little blood. She said it could be the synthroid was working for me. She said the ultrasound also showed the uterine lining was thick. She said she would want to see the results of the biopsy before deciding if we wanted to do anything else, and in meantime to also resume taking the 800 mg of Ibuprofen every 8 hours around the clock, and to continue to take the pill within any breaks (so now have been on the pill since about the first week in December). She said she would see me in 10 days and by then she should have received the results of the biopsy. She said to not take the megace.
Then later in the afternoon after seeing the gyn, the gyn practitioner who had done the biopsy called me to discuss the ultrasound as well. She sounded a bit surprised that the gyn had not registered more concern about the thick lining, which she now told me was uneven. She assured me that my risk of cancer was about nil as I have no risk factors and had been on this type of BC pill long enough to get benefits from it, but that we would want to rule everything out. She said she could let me know when biopsy results were in.
So yesterday and today I have had maybe a spot or two of blood, but nothing more than that.
This afternoon, the gyn practioner called to say the results of the biopsy came back and were "inconclusive" - she said that her samples only got blood and some cells from the cervix (which were normal, as had been the PAP in December). She said she would fax the results to the gyn and I shoudl call the gyn tomorrow. I asked teh gyn practitioner what shoudl be done now, and she said probably a D&C. She also offered to do the biopsy again on Friday this week.
Let me say that I am immediately freaked out. I just do not want a D&C. I am terrified of the pain. I don't think I can do it. I am frightened - I had abortions as a young adult and this is not something I want to feel like again. i also do not want to go under general anesthesia as I have laringo spasms since my thyroid was removed, and am very paranoid about not being able to breathe.
Can anyone tell me if it's possible that my gyn could prescribe some medication to make my uterus shed the walls, and then repeat the ultarsound ina few monsths or something to see if this has all been caused by my synthroid level being off? of if it is just peri-menapuase stuff going on, can't we wait and see if a normal period will allow the walls to go normal? Then again, I am also concerned that if I sto the pill and try and get on cycle again, i will have a heavy bleeding experience again. Although my endocrinologist says that he feels it could have been my TSH levels and not having enough synthroid that threw my period off. So mayeb I would have normal bleeding if I stop the pill? Then how can my uterine walls get normal and thin again?
I know the first gyn who prescribed the megace said it would make the walls thin and then the ultrasound would also be more effective. But now everyone is saying don't take it, and now I'm second guessing myself and thinking I should have taken it! Any thoughts on what to do would be so aprpeciated.

Hello there,
I have the exact same problem like yours. Got my abdominal ultrasound done today and my endometrics thickness is 13 mm. Detected simple follicles and very small(not serious) cyst in one of the ovary which doctor says should dissolve on its own after adopting a healthy lifestyle. The only thing that is making me worried is I'm bleeding heavily from last 16 days and I was taking Pause MF earlier which didn't help and now I consulted another gyn just yesterday who switched me to daflon 500 mg and that is not helping either. I'm still bleeding the same amount and pass clots every now and then. My gyn said if the bleeding continues for long then she would have to do a D&C and cut and surgically remove the thickened lining by putting my on local anesthesia. I'm a virgin and I never ever got myself internally examined till date, let alone getting some sort of surgical process done. I'm terrified as hell and don't know what to do. Since this topic is almost 2 years old, and I'm presuming you must have had your D&C done, could you please guide me on the procedure? Was it painful? How did it go?

hello cybergirl, did you get your answer? did you have to have the procedure? I could talk to you about it if you want; I had one recently. I would rather talk to you more personally thru my email. is that ok?
