I use aclovate ointment for treatment of pruritic dermatosis. It’s corticosteroid drug. I heard that corticosteroids may cause various adverse reactions. My doctor told me to visit him after two weeks from the beginning of the therapy. After how long term of usage adverse skin reactions may develop?

I think that it’s just about 2 weeks. My symptoms were itching and dry skin during treatment. Topical usage of corticosteroids causes less adverse reactions than systemic usage do. Very low dose is absorbed when using topical. And aclovate ointment belongs to class of medium to low potency corticosteroids. So I think that you shouldn’t be worried about its side effects.
