I was in vietnam 70-71. spent the entire time on forward firebase, where we were continuely sprayed with agent orange. I have had problems breathing ever since. It seems to get a little worse each year. I have also had stomach problems all this time also. I also have a high red blood cell count that the doctors cannot explain.

I too was in VN 1970/1971. Danang was my "home" base and turns out that Danang was (and still is ,as of 2007....per a medical research team) a hot spot with 300 to 400 times the amount of accepted AO dioxins STILL in that area.Danang is now an international airport!Anyway,I was diagnosed in 2007,during a pre-op blood test, with something called essential thrombocytosis.A condition that produces alot more blood platelets than normal. It is incurable, but treatable.I've been going around in circles with the VA."Because ET is NOT on the presumptive list of AO related conditions......",all bets off!Get this, though.Type 2 diabetes IS on the presumptive list. That type is the most common(ANYONE can get it,regardless of age/gender),most treatable(going on a simple diet can help),& most reversable.Period.I have a friend(Viet Vet) collecting 100% disability because he came down with type 2 diabetes! Drinks like a fish, smokes like a smokestack etc. etc.,BUT because it's on the presumptive list,he gets a 100% disabilty. My condition(ET)is very rare and I've followed blogs about this condition and I or no-one gets even considered for a disability. Very rare(according to my hematologist/oncologist) but many Viet Vets reported having it......... Hmmmm what a coincidence. What can be done about this and who can come to bat for ANY suspicious condition, possibly attributed to AO?Most frustrating...............GRRRRRRRRRRR!

I was in Danang, Chulai, Saigon, served Brown Water Navy 68/69, I've had stomach problems for over 47 years; they never find anything so they say. Now I have prostate cancer; still have not heard from disability, it's been over 3 months. I chose watchful waiting until I go in early June to get hormone shots. So, hang in there and don't give up. Keep fighting for what is yours. I have a claim in for PTSD and anxitety; it's been 3 long years, but I'm fighting for my disability with an appeal,; they agree I have PTSD, but they say not from the Vietnam War. What A Joke Our Own Government Can Be At Times. God Bless You And All My Brothers Fighting For Their Rights. Joe
