She will have to come to grips that she is addicted to it before she seeks help if you tell her something like that she may get extremely mad at you because an addict does not think logically. She definitely needs help from her doctor and should go through a treatment center or she could have seizures, convulsions, or commit suicide. I took them for nine years and am off of them now with the help of an intreatment center...I could not cut the dosage down on my own because I had the worse ANXIETY ATTACTS!! I have been off for seven days and can remember my dreams at night instead of being knocked out, I think about my life dreams, listen to music again and am back to myself by 98%, but I had to come to the conclusion to go get help..I did and I am so happy I did!! Much luck to you and yours!!

I expertly do not agree with the above comment about having to come to terms with an addiction. People do not get clean because they want to as I sure didnt like many others They get clean and sober because they have to be pushed or pulled into treatment. Then maybe they will come to grips with this affliction. I am a licensed counselor and will tell you that 99.9% of people have to be given an ultimatum weather by a judge, a child or a spouce etc.... Also, Simply because you have been clean for a short perios of time I want to warn you of a stage of recovery called the WALL. In this stage at about 45-180 days your brain chemicals will begin to normalize and at time drop so you will fell very depressed. This will pass but you have to keep your treatment/support strong. You are currently in what we call the honeymoon stage where the brain is trying to normalize and your neurotransmitters are over shooting making you feel great but this will soon pass. Im not trying to scare you only informing you that this MIGHT happen (hitting the wall). STAY WITH YOUR SUPPORT

I have been taking ambient for about 15 year .10mg at night. I only get about four hours sleep at night. I tried stopping in a short time, and had terrible withdrawa and went to the hospital. I am planning on talking to my dt this week about tapering off as well with clonazzepam.

I have the exact same ambien and adderall addiction and it's severe. I went from an outgoing, fun, and active person, to extreme depression and multiple suicide attempts. I really would love to hear your story, how you're doing, and if you have any advice. I'm new to the site, but I'm assuming your privacy settings are whats preventing me from contacting you (this is my first day as a member). If you wouldn't mind doing this, and there is a way to message you my email let me know. I hope you are doing well :)

Currently writing a book about Ambien Addiction (Zoldipem) After struggling with this drug for years, I am now writing about it. I am looking for others who are willing to share their own personal stories to include in my book. I believe our experiences are not as uncommon as the drug's maker would indicate, and that by sharing our experiences we can help others as well.

I finally got off after about 8 years and didn't use it for year days while off work but when I had to go back to work since I work nights and can't sleep days had to take it again 3 times last week.  It makes me so sad.  I hate doi g that to myself but what else can I do if I can't sleep?

I don't mean to piss on everyone's pity-parade but for christ's sake. just stop taking the pills, go through a couple weeks of rough sleeping cycles until your body gets so exhausted you get natural sleep. A little self control and discipline goes a long way. I used to snort ambien after shooting dope-in the middle of the day. If you really think anyone should feel bad for you, you'll never stop using. Advice from a 24 year old ex heroin, oxycontin, xanax, klonopin, phenobarbital, and ambien user of 2 years and 5 months now: make a choice and quit trying to get attention or have someone help you. Do it yourself and accept the fact that you will sleep when you're tired. you don't need a pill, you need a hobby.

I would like to update my response. My husband has had 2 Grand Mal seizures. One happened in August, then he got one in October. He is now off Ambien for now, because this scared him. So to all the people who are abusing this drug, this should be a awake up call for everyone.

Did your husband have seizures because of ambien withdrawl? How long had it been since he took an ambien when he had the first seizure? And again in Oct. ..was he still on ambien or was the seizure still from the withdrawls from back in Aug?
