Hey everyone, I've been running into some serious issues while recovering after my ankle surgery and I wanted to seek some advice in figuring out if some of this is normal or if I need to be worried.

To start, after my incisions seemed to be fully healed and the sutures were removed, the entire incision on my left side came back open. I'm already almost 2 months behind on recovery schedule since the incision has taken forever to try and heal back up after, but this puts me at four months post surgery so my doctor is trying to have me take some first steps with partial weight bearing.

Upon my first step the pain was BEYOND excruciating and I thought I felt a crunch. It was nauseating and made me stop immediately. The doctor checked and said I was fine but the idea of taking another step in terrifying. I've been off of it an entire day now and it's still throbbing at me in enough pain to make trying to do basics around the house on my leg scooter troublesome.

Now I had Guillain-Barre syndrome as a young child and has left me with some serious weakness in my foot. I can barely even lift it half an inch at all, it's that weak. I'm highly concerned my lack of strength and most likely lack of ability to gain much more (I've worked on it for years) is getting in the way of my walking, and potentially other side effects from my having it but I don't know anyone else who's had a procedure done like this with this level of weakness and other nerve issues so I thought I'd reach out here.

Is this just normal and to be expected when I start walking? Is this horribly slow recovery something where I should see another doctor for a second opinion? I'm really worried about it all and could really use the advice.
