ahem >.> IF YOU WANT TO GET BETTER READ THIS: well you could go through years of potentially harmful and strict, mostly likely abrasive therapy that may never work, or you could always consider the fact that your neurotransmitter system is most likely not working in the most desired manner and to correct that all you have to do is go on a VERY strict diet for 14 days of extremely plain foods (basically bread, beans (other than soy), rice, nothing spicy or overly sweet)(especially no drugs or alcohol, tea , coffee included, dark chocolate i mean EVERYTHING) you MUST take milk thistle for 14 days or at the very least everyday for the week leading up to the end of the diet and 7 days after the diet (more days if still feeling stomach upset) then after 14 days on an incredibly simple and bland diet drink an entire bottle of vicks dayquil for coughs AT LEAST 200+ milligrams or it will have no effect it also must contain under medical ingredients ONLY Dextromethorphan, or Dextromethorphan hydrobromide, or Dextromethorphan HBR these are all the same thing. I'm going to make this very clear, this is not to get high or trip, this is because this substance is capable of doing something that no prescript-able substance is capable of doing, if you go to a doctor they will try to make money off of curing you very VERY slowly. this substance when taken in the proper dosage will reset several neurotransmitter systems in your brain and body, this will not make you stupid like a child don't worry this will make you stop biting yourself or doing repetitive behaviors that relieve anxiety, or ones you don't even notice your doing or know why. the reason for this is that when you bite your lip/mouth/cheek/tongue/skin/nails you are getting high as holy sweet Joseph Mary Jesus, simply because of the amount of drugs your body naturally produces that get released into your brain during damage to the body and during repair, your not a bad person your just addicted to endogenous drugs. you using this part of your bodies system to activate a stress relief response more strong than heroin combined with ever single addictive drug on the planet does not make you a bad person, even for those of you that realize what it is doing to your brain pharmacologicaly its your choice if you wanna use these types of drugs, but they can (and the actions needed to activate them) very seriously damage your body and mind most importantly your mind, it is a learned coping mechanism. for some it helps boredom for some it helps calm them wile they are doing active things, there are literally countless ways people use this system of the body most of them unaware of the actual effect on the mind its having. I'm not saying stop your habit take this drug, I'm saying stop activating the addictive drug system you have over excited and use this substance to cleanse your body of built up drug metabolites (from over activating endogenous drug systems) the metabolites in particular are the reason even on incredibly potent pharmaceutical agents many people still relapse into these types of behaviors, because they don't internally classify it as a drug, when in actual fact these endogenous drugs are far more addictive than external drugs, simply because people don't realize it is a drug and the word habit is an attempt at uninformed people to downplay the severity of the issue. again you will not notice the effect intill the day after you drink this substance, and if it does not work it is likely because of 10 or more years of heavy use of endogenous systems in witch case taking double the milk thistle during the diet phase and double or more of the dayquil i initially suggested at the end of the diet phase can often help those who have been doing this for 10-20-30 or more years who find the dose i suggested does not help or only helps marginally. if you in any way experience anxiety wile under the influence of this substance attempt to breath in through your nose for 7 seconds and breath out through your mouth for 11 seconds very slowly for a few minutes (preferably wile laying down on you back wile attempting to relax every part of your body and mind).

I found your post riveting! Where did you learn of this procedure, and where can we read more about it? Thanks!

i did not learn it, they will make it illegal OTC soon because f*****g morphine addicts undergoing replacement therapy use it to make there replacement last longer in their body way to go crack heads ffs. but to answer your question i drank a whole bottle one night trying to get an entheogenic experience, and i woke up without OCD and it lasted for a few months. i later found the temporary damage this substance causes to the liver can be prepared for and reversed with milk thistle (also OTC), I'm fairly sure its already off the shelves in the USA. for the countries ware it is not best to consider your time precious and stock up it will be a matter of time before its prescription only or simply unattainable. i should mention magnesium has similar qualities at a vastly lower potency, and magnesium must be taken with a multivitamin containing zinc or you run the risk of magnesium toxicity, also the magnesium will probably get rid of your arthritis and migraines and really a lot of other pain that a lot of people suffer from. you want coral calcium that contains magnesium other forms don't work very well, the calcium/magnesium ratio should be 2/1 cal/mag, taking vitamin D with this helps. your NOT going to find positive scientific studies regarding Dextromethorphan's use in this manner, I'm going to make it very simple there are many sever conditions that can be reversed/cured with simple OTC things but the pharmaceutical industry would stand to lose incalculable profits if the majority of people knew of them.

This is so like me.
My parents are desperately trying to get me to stop. It started a few years ago during exams and now it happens constantly, when I'm bored, driving, stressed... I can't seem to stop. My dad will tell me to stop and within 2 minutes I'm biting again.
I also feel the compulsion to 'smooth' out my cheeks, knowing of course that I am only making it worse, but I enjoy the perverse sense of satisfaction that every last scrap of rough skin is gone and I can run my tongue around in my mouth and it be smooth. Problem is, that never happens. I just keep going, it's never smooth enough for me.
It think it is a type of OCD... it's definitely an addiction. I used to bite my nails until I got braces and stopped, and I'd wake up in the morning with ridges along my mouth where the train tracks had pressed in, and I'd bite them all off. I think that also facilitated it.
I really want to stop. I just don't know how to keep my mind on it at all times... I really don't know I'm doing it until it starts hurting / bleeding. I can't eat chewing gum as my stomach doesn't agree with the excess saliva produced when I have it, so that idea is down the drain...
It's pretty scary actually. I was reading this forum and was actually close to tears that all of us have the same problem and none of us have a definitive solution... how can something so simple be so difficult to stop?

Hi, I know I'm a little late on this conversation but i have a the worse habit of biting the skin of the inside of my cheek and when i cant bite it anymore scrape it with my fingers. It is extremely painful and I'm doing it right now. Sometimes i can wait until its all healed but most of the time I cant. I cant remember when it all started i was in about 3rd grade ( I started to get sores on the inside of my mouth and would try to bit e them of ). I'm 15 now and NONE of my parents can get me to stop, they'll say "stop biting your cheek" and i will for a second. But once i start biting I don't want to stop. If anyone knows how to break this habit I will be so great-full. ( I've tried gum chewing, eating sunflower seed, biting toothpicks ). Nothing will work

I Also do the same thing. My lips are almost always chapped and have built up an addiction to lip chap - to the point that only carmex works.
The only thing that I can think of that works is chewing on gum or sucking on mints.
But yeah, I pull the rough bits off of my lips, suck on the inside when I concentrate. And lick them constantly. Also I apply balm almost every hour. I need to learn to stop.
I've only been doing this for a year or two.

i thought the cause of the uneven skin on the inside of my mouth (mostly lower lip) was bacteria or fungus or whatever cos i forget to brush my teeth at night sometimes or i do but then i eat something and go to bed with little bits of food still in my teeth (yeah gross i know and its embarrassing to admit) i remember when i first started, i woke up one morning with a narrow whitish ridge on both sides of my cheek, cos i grit my teeth when i sleep, (not hard) but when i do, a little skin on both sides get in between the gap, anyway i started biting that cos it was annoying and kinda peeling anyway and after i did the skin was rough and uneven and it bled as well so i stopped until it healed and i bit it again until it was smooth im not sure why and maybe i had some antibiotics but it healed smoothly so i stopped biting but then a lil bit of skin on the inside of my lower lip started kinda peeling too so i started biting it as well, one time most of the inside of my lower lip was whitish and i bit like huge chunks of skin, good thing it wasn't bleeding though and what's gross is that i spit the skin out and i do it everywhere and sometimes don't even notice! anyway this started almost like 7 months ago and i finally decided to look it up and saw that for some it's stress related, for me i do bite my lip when im stressed and/or thinking but i also do it when im bored and i think its become a habit cos i just caught myself chewing and i was thinking "this is the last time im gonna chew, but i really need to smooth the skin" its not hard for me to stop since i kinda just started but i don't want this to be a disorder, this is the first time i tried to stop and im gonna give myself like a month to see if i can stop on my own or need hypnosis or sumthn.. im 15 btw..

I do this too, it makes me feel a lot happier that other people do this too.
However, I bite seriously hard, like the smally beady thing inside your mouth? Well, I don't have many left. I don't know if this is what everyone else meant but its horrible, I want to stop. I'm only 13 and I've spent almost half my life doing this.
any advice on how to stop?
thanks x

Hi All,
I have found that chewing gum actually prevents you from doing this. I have started chewing gum ( Wrigley's peppermint to be specific)
and have found it to be quite helpful. Please try it and let me know if this helps you as well.
Cheers

ANTIBIOTICS!!!! I have been chewing my cheeks and lips since early childhood, on and off. I don't know why I started again about a year ago and I have been trying to stop for months. The problem is that I'm not even aware that I'm doing it most of the time. I've tried gum chewing but that doesn't help much. A week ago I was put on antibiotics to prevent lyme disease and I noticed that I'm no longer biting my cheeks. I wondered if there was a connection and found several people have posted on this site that they also stopped after going on antibiotics. There has to be a connection. I'm hoping that I won't relapse when I go off the antibiotics but I can't believe how I just stopped. Amazing.

i do this too and yes i feel the same way, like i need to smooth out the hole; which then gets swollen greating a bump. then i have to get rid of this. sometimes i bite off big ass chunks of flesh and i feel accomplished O.o but yeah its a common thing, most likely stress related. no idea why people do this but perhaps the pain helps you keep things off your mind ? idk but I've been doing this for a verry long time since i was like 5 i think and now im 16.
