My mother is 77 and has hypoglobulinemia. Her quality of life of Zero. She previously had IV immunoglobulin therapy but this has not been stopped owing to cost. She has just had a double blind trial at the Royal Free Hospital in Hampstead to see whether it is worth restarting this therapy. The IV therapy will not be continueing. She is very depressed and feels her life is over. She suffers almost constant upper respiratory infections, is frequently on anitibiotics but is not able to get out of the house for 3 or 4 weeks at a time. Is there some alternative treatment that could be offered?
