I am getting so frustrated with the doctors right now. I have porphyria in my family and I had a hysterectomy last year and I experienced the pain, vomiting, nausea, constipation, red urine, muscle weakness, depression, basically the works. The doctors thought I was crazy. Now, they want me to produce symptoms, but I am not having any. Are there any tests out there that can diagnose CHP or AIP when you are NOT having symptoms? I had blood work come back that showed high copoporhyrin levels, but no one tested my urine until months after the attack. I just need guidance...

Hi!
I'm sure there MUST be a test that they can do without symptoms, but I don't know what it is.
I don't know how safe this is, but if you want to induce symptoms, just go on the Atkins diet for a couple of weeks. If you have porphyria, you'll begin to get symptoms and they can test you. However, again, I don't know if it's very safe to do that.
