Hi, my friend is 27 years old and she is suffering from anemia for some time. In last couple week she was complaining that she feels very tired and she looked very pale. When she visited her doctor he told her that her anemia is caused by deficiency of B12 vitamin. I would like to know what may cause vitamin B12 deficiency.

Hi, vitamin B12 is very important for maturation of red blood cells and synthesis of DNA. This vitamin has significant importance in nerve functioning. Deficiency of this vitamin may be caused by lack of intrinsic factor which is produced in stomach. This factor is key factor for transporting vitamin B12 in the blood. Also deficiency of vitamin B12 may cause neuropathy.
