Hello! Bipolar II disorder is when a person had one or more depressive episodes accompanied by at least one hypomanic episode. Hypomanic episodes are similar to manic episodes but are less severe. However, hypomanic episode must be clearly different from a person’s non-depressed mood. These episodes won’t cause any problems in social activities or at work, but may be troublesome. It is often misdiagnosed as depression.

Hi there,
The first thing is first, this is a mental illness which is very similar to bipolar disorder I but with moods cycling between high and low over time. The good thing about bipolar II disorder is that the up mood can never reach mania and the condition that you might feel is often just hypomania. You have to understand that when you have bipolar II disorder you will experience at least on hypomania disorder in life time. Most people are in their teens or early 20s when symptoms of bipolar disorder first start. You also have to know that you are at higher risk of having this condition if you have a relative that suffered as well.
All the best,
Danella
