Bleeding During Intercourse

I used to get this when I was on a few types of birth control.

I am now on the Mirena 5 year IUD and I have not had this since. With depo, patches, inserts, and pills, I always bled and sometimes uncomfortable. Please do no get too worried over it, but talk to your gynecologist about switching.

If you're worried about Mirena like I have, don't be.
It takes about a month for it to be totally comfortable, and it does hurt especially if you have never had children before as they basically inject it upyour cervix which is tiny if you're not with children before. Try to get it done when on your period, it is a lot more comfortable and does not bruise you as much.

I also suggest switching it up, using different lubrication, condoms, etc.

I occasionally get spotting while on the IUD, but my period has mostly disappeared. It's a lot more convenient for sex since I know it is essentially impossible for me to get pregnant. I also have no weight gain, and no side effects so far. It lasts for 5 years, and I am so happy I have stopped the crazy bleeding I used to get with my other partner.
I have heard the same results from my friends, their mothers and daughters from 17-45 and would recommend it.

I recently had to bring it up to a new partner. Being 38 and mature, as the "time" approached and at that point when we were approaching the intercourse part, I quietly mentioned that I didn't want to break the mood but I had prior issues at times with bleeding during intercourse, he understood, the mood was not broken, we took it slow at first and hoped for the best.

I did see my doctor about this since I am not on the pill and I was concerned. I do not have any polyps, no irritation, no fibroid, no health problems whatsoever. He even had trouble TRYING to make me bleed during the pap. He said that it does happen and it is more common than you can imagine. The "in and out" motion during sex can cause bleeding. Blood flows to the area at a high rate during intercourse, and especially during orgasm. There is so much fluid being released that blood can join in. Yes, the very thin, bright red kind.

I AM 27 YEARS OF AGE AND I ALSO HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. IT WOULD OCCUR ALWAYS AND SOME TIME I EXPERIENCE SOME PAIN. THE BLEEDING DIDN"T OCCUR UNTIL ABOUT 1 AND A HALF YEARS AGO. ME AND MY FRIEND HAD SEX UNPROTECTED AND I JUST FELT A GUSH I NEW I HAVE NOT CAME. AND WHEN HE GOT UP IT WAS BLOOD ON HIS SHIRT. IT SCARED ME. BUT THEN WHEN I GOT UP TO CLEAN MYSELF I WOULD SEE BLOOD SOMETIMES I WILL NOT. IT CRAZY THE DOCTOR ASK ME WAS I HAVE RUFF SEX. I SAID YES THAT TIME I WAS BUT WHAT IABOUT THOSE OTHER TIMES. HE CHECK FOR BACTERIA. AND I DID HAVE SOME TYPE OF BACTERIA. HE GAVE ME SOME PILLS AND IT STOPED IT FOR A LITTLE BIT BUT AS SOON AS I STARTED BACK GAVE PROTECTED SEX THIS TIME IT IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME

Okay so i am 19 and i am not on birth control. I hav bleed twice while in bed with my boyfriend. We never notice it until afterwords, and it's not hard to clean up because there is never a lot. But I have found that it only happens during certain positions. Could it be that he is going too deep or too hard, or is it the certain angle. Please someone tell me what is going on.

i have experienced bleeding during sex and after up to 8 hours later! when i have already had my period for the month. & i almost passed out after we were done. & was left sore. any idea what's wrong?? :'(

I am 24 years old married (to the only person I have ever been with) and have been having bleeding problems with intercourse as well. In January 2008 my nuva-ring fell out and I didn't know. For the first month i bleed non stop, 1st OB/GYN said that it was normal since i was coming off of the hormones. About 2 months later i started bleeding just with sex. I have had 2 chemical cauterizations, a biopsy, 2 antibiotics, an ultersound and have seen 3 doctors. All of my tests have come back negative!! NO infections, no cancer, nothing. The new hypothises is that my hormones are unable to regulate themselves. So i have gone back on the pill and we are waiting for improvment. I have noticed that i will bleed more (enough that I have to take a shower) if I have intercourse within a week of the start of my period. It will less for a week after and stop completely about the time i ovulate. I also don't have any pain, and the blood is usually bright red and stops right after. I will sometimes have some spotting of dark blood for a few days after. I have also changed my lubercients, condoms, even my pill. I am also seeing an acupuncturist to see what he can do. If anyone has any idea how to get rid of this, please share!!!!

Hi i am 20 years old, i am engaged and have been in a sexual relationship for two years with only the one guy. i have never had a problem with bleeding during intercourse until this week. I did not ever realize it until my fience told me. He was very nice about it and is scared he is going to hurt me now but he wants to help me with it. I don't know exactly what is going on but i am kinda nervous so if anyone has any information please write back....I am on birth control and have never had a problem with that...

I feel somewhat relieved that I'm not the only one going through something like this, I recently became sexually active again, and started having sex with this new guy 3 times now, the second time I had a little bit of blood but it wasn't something I was alarmed about at first, when it happened again the third time with a bigger mess, which was extremely embarrasing, I decided to look into it! The third time we had sex and everything was okay, took a break and then started making out and he used a vibrator on me, it felt good after awhile and then we started to feel wet sheets, and then realized it was a puddle of blood, I got up and blood was running down my legs, I ran to the bathroom and took a shower, and realized that I have blood clots bleeding in my vagina, I don't know why this is happening it was a huge bloody mess and I felt really embarrassed, luckily the guy I was with was a perfect gentleman about it and wasn't worried much about the mess, but more worried about me, I felt faint and lightheaded afterwards, because I'm also anemic, I went home and went to bed, and woke up with no problems, the thing is that I have been taking birth control pills for awhile due to pcos, and to stabilize my hormones, and my menstrual cycle, I had been taking it continously, but forget and then retake it continously for another week, my periods didn't show, I called my gyno and she said that make sure your not pregnant, and I'm not, and that was 3 months ago, it has been 6 months with no periods, and then this happens, and now I have some irritating abdominal pains. but since that night, I haven't had any bleeding which is weird. I decided to do some research online and found this symptom called secondary anemorrhia, which is something that occurs when a women doesnt have her period after 3 months or so, it fits the bill because of all the symptoms I'm having, I called the doctor and spoke to the nurse but waiting to talk to the doctor and find out the underlying cause of this! I will update this once I figure out whats going on, but I recommend you guys with problems with this to go see your gyno and find out the underlying cause, don't ignore it because the problem will just get worse! :-(

I have just had bleeding during intercourse and am wondering about it
This is not that common for me and usually happens when I am expecting my period( though strangely it hasn't happenned in a while) or have done a position we do not do that often.
Doggy style is very deep penetration and can cause bleeding if u are not ready or he goes too deep.
Reversed cowboy position usually causes me to get a yeast infection:(
There are many factors as to why women bleed during intercourse:
Infection
Too dry/not ready outside and in for intersourse
Endometriosis or polyps/cyst

I sometimes miss a pill by 24 hrs, so I have to double up.
Even though I have missed pills b4, I have never bled due to this so I don't think this is the reason.

I also have developed a cystlike pimple on the right labia of my vaginal opening tho it is common for me to get one b/c the sex is rushed most of the time and outside is not moist enough, therefore I develop a friction induced sore which I treat with an anti-itch/anti-swelling cream prescribed form my dr. which helps alot.

As I am writing this I actaully feel crampy!!!

I used to also suffer from Bacterial vaginosis but thank god it has gone away for a loong time:)

I'm 25, and Lo-Estrin. I have been bleeding almost every time i have sex with my boyfriend. I am so not understanding how they can tell you a pill is going to cause you to bleed less, but you end up bleeding more. There's got to be a better way!!!!!!!!!

K so I've almost found a little clarity but I'm still kinda confused. It sounds like if u have rough sex and it ripps the walls of your vag it can get infected. So then the next time u have sex u bleed because its infected? and it wont go away until u take a antibiotic? ?

I'm 18 years old, and have been sexually active for about 3 years. I was in a 2 year relationship and never had a problem with this, even with the partner after that. but i am experiencing this with my current boyfriend. we've been together for about 10 months have been sexually active for about 9. the bleeding didn't start until about 4 months ago, and the only thing i can track it back to is the first dose of my gardasil shot. the bleeding is about the same as it has already been described...it feels more wet than anything and when we are done there's blood all over him and me. there's no pain or anything and once i get cleaned up right after intercourse there's no more blood. its a scary situation and its freaking both of us out! Ive been to the doctor and have had a pap smear and have been checked for STDs. i'm going back in a couple days to see if it has anything to do with the shot before i get the second dose.
if anyone has a solution and/or has been diagnosed with anything please let me know!

I also have this kind of problem. Yet it happens to me if I have sex with my boyfriend a day after my menstrual cycle. Do you think the blood is from my cycle, still?please help

Thanks for all of the convo. I have had this problem for 2 years now! I bleed sometimes light, sometimes heavy, and sometimes not at all during sex. Obviously the bleeding times freak the hell out of me and my boyfriend. I have had 3 partners and thats not a factor. I tried switching pills as well, no change. My gyno kept saying I just had a sensitive cervics. However, I now am beginning to think that it is connected to both the HPV that I was told I had 2 years ago and the LEEP procedure I had done. I am so happy to hear that there may be a diagnosis and medication for this because it has been waaay to long since I have truly been worry free during sex and I'm only 24! Thanks

I've noticed over the past few months that after me and my boyfriend have sex there is some light blood. Nothing painful, but still concerning. I was wondering if it might have anything to do with size issues (him to big, me to small) but the bleeding has been going on from the beginning of the relationship. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
