I have had the same problem for about a year now. I had sex in February and bleed and thought that it was close to my period so I didn't think very much of it. I stopped having sex until recently (October), and with my now EX boyfriend I bleed a lot and it was after every time we had sex. Honestly, I went to the doctors, had a pap done and of course they need to rule out STD's (chlamydia/gonorrhea) but, the thing everyone should be aware of is even if you have Chlamydia or Gonorrhea, it is cured by a 4 day anti-biotic and sometimes the doctors will give you a shot. Its is very common and there are also alot of other things that can cause you to bleed such as inserting tampons, leaving them in too long, allergies to latex, cervititis, vaginitis, irritation from a parasite, infection, and that is what usually causes the cervix to inflame. If thats the case and there is nothing that they can find, they can freeze off the cells so that you do not bleed any longer. Remember, there is always a solution, you just need to be persistent. Also, it is very important that I make this clear - TONS of women get abnormal cells, EVERY individual on this planet comes in contact with HPV at some point in their lives (warts on feet are part of HPV). Now, cervical cancer does not develop into actual full blown cancer for about 10 years. It is a slow process when on the cervix so even if you do have abnormal cells, they can remove them, that is why doctors suggest you get a routine pap done every 1 to 3 years. When all is said and done, if you cannot have children, or you need a hysterectomy done - this may be devastation yes, but there are plenty of children out there that get put up for a adoption and would love a mother that would give their heart to them. Everyone has the biological right to have a child but not everyone deserves to be a parent. I searched google god knows how many times trying to answer my questions but at least I know that by going to the doctors, they are looking at what is wrong with me and there are solutions to the problem - your health is your main concern, don't be a pushover when it comes to doctors. Oh and just a side note, I am from Canada, not sure where this forum is from but doctors in Canada are paid by our government to make sure things like this are taken care of, if you are from the U.S., I understand that health care is difficult over there.

So I have been on birth control since high school. I was on the pill, tried the patch for one day then i have been on nuvaring for a few years and love it!
2. I have been bleeding during sex since 2006, off and on. I believe it is stress related or maybe my vagina is weakened from all the bc. I went to this website where girls blogged about bleeding during intercourse:https://www.steadyhealth.com/Bleeding_During_Intercourse_t57395.html
I went to Planned Parenthood and my personal gyno about the issue bc I bleed alot during sex (like once/twice a month) then it stops right after he pulls out. In my recent visit we did a pap smear and std test to out rule certain issues. There are a list of reasons for why a woman may bleed during sex:
1. sti/std
2. bleeding disorder-check for blood clot
3. the kind of b.c. your using
4. get a pap smar and check for hpv
5. your pregnant
6. small vaginal tear
7. polyps-fibroid
If all of these are ruled out then you need to get a pelvic ultrasound or coposcopy for a biopsy. Condom usage helps too!

hey ladies,
I had the same issue. was diagnosed with HPV(16, 18 etc..) but have never had any issues with bleeding during sex in the five yrs since the diagnosis. However, i recently been divorced hadn't had a new lover in awhile until i met my fiace then boom...bleeding during sex. I don't know why. it fereaked me out, so i went to the Gyno and he had said i had a friable cervix. My pap results all came back clear and in normal ranges. I was still bleeding during sex though. I was like wtf... few weeks after that appointment i got sick (ear infection, nasty sore throat, URI) the dr had put me on Ceftin an antibiotic(penecillin allergy) ever since those antibiotics the bleeding has stopped. it's been almost three months frere of that. best advice...see your doctor gyno or otherwise. it could be a minor bacterial infection that the pap missed. Be firm and talk to your Doc about your concerns

Bleeding during or after sex can mean several things, including:
- Endometriosis
- Infection (Trichomoniasis, STD's)
- Cervical erosion
- Cervical displasia (precancerous lesion)
- Polyps
- Tumors (Fibroid, for example)
Consult a specialist Gynecologyst. Not a nurse or a friend.

I went in search of this topic because I've been suffering from bleeding during/after intercourse for probably 2 years now. I had been seeing a Family Nurse Practitioner for my yearly pap smears. When I was 20, a pap smear came back abnormal - my fnp told me that it was probably inflammation and that I needed to get another one done in 3-6 months. I went back 6 months later and it had cleared up - my pap smear was normal.
Ever since I've been nervous to go back because I am afraid I will get another abnormal pap smear. Well, I had put it off for 2 years (yes, I know... I deserve a beating). I could not see my normal fnp due to scheduling, so this time I saw a gynecologist. I was nervous about this because he was male and my fnp was female. However, it went very well. He was very knowledgeable and straight forward. He took a look at my cervix to do the pap smear and asked me if I had a lot of mucus/vaginal discharge. I was quite surprised that he asked this because I did/do and always wanted to ask someone if it was normal, but was too shy. I said yes, and he told me that I had cervical eversion/cervical erosion, but other than that my cervix looked fine. He said that it is extremely common in women and happens when the tissue that is normally inside the uterus, is outside on the cervix. Because of the "wrong" tissue being outside the cervix, it leaves your cervix more susceptible to infection, inflammation, and irritation. This explains why I bleed during/after intercourse and why my pap smear came back abnormal and then cleared up.
He said that it is benign, but can be treated with cryotherapy should it become annoying or too troublesome to deal with.
I am waiting for my results on my current pap smear because I want to be sure that everything is okay - I'm still slightly paranoid. Also, he switched me from Yaz to Alesse because Alesse is a lot cheaper and just as good. I am a little nervous about switching, but feel like I should try Alesse because it's cheaper and I can always switch back if I want.
So ladies... the moral to my story is ASK QUESTIONS. Even if they feel stupid or really weird to ask, if you have a question ask your health care professional. They are there to answer your questions and promote your health - don't be shy or scared. I wondered for 2 years if I had HPV or cervical cancer because I was too afraid to ask. Please don't put yourself under the unnecessary stress of wondering when you can get the answer you are looking for.

I'm 17 and lost my virginity last night. the only problem is that i don't know what the guy thought because he was under the impression that my ex and i had been sexually active. I think i bled quite a bit and now i am still bleeding a little... I feel really bad that i did it this way, and i need to share what i did.
I sneaked out and went into town with a guy who works next door to me, we hit up a house party and got really drunk then took a bus back to one of his colleagues' houses. There we had sex and he was on top (i have been reading up and apparently it's best to have girl on top for your first time)
i feel kind of used, although i didn't do anything to try and stop it...
just thought i would share that because i cant tell anyone else because my parents think i was out with the girls bowling...
o.O

Hi. I am 18, and only been sexually active for seven months now, with only my current bf. My concraceptive is called an implanon. Basically it is a horomonal stick that is put into my arm. But last time we had sex, it was really hard for him to penetrate me, which was unusual. We were in the heat of the moment, so we went on anyways. I also never had a problem with lubracation. But only a minute into it, He looked down and told me i was bleeding. I was so frightened.
I cleaned myself off, and so did he. It was a mess. I took a cutip inside of myself, and i concluded that there was alot of blood. I put on white underwear, expecting to let it bleed some more, but it stopped once the sex did. i only bled when he penetrated me. I am so confused. and my lower gut has been hurting since as well. although there was no pain during the sex. I am going to the doctor tomorrow. i am super curious.

Hi ladies,
I have experienced vaginal bleeding during intercourse as well. Its concerning because it is so unexpected and startling when it occurs and it's a substantial amount. For me the bleeding was fairly heavy and bright red. At first I thought it was my body's normal reaction to not having sex in a while. But when it happened time and again, it worried me. For me it's not a lubrication issue. In my case, I feel a gushing sensation when I'm about to climax, which I'm assuming is the onset of the heavy bleeding. This is a bit traumatizing, especially when it happens with someone you have never been witt and because of the amount of blood. There is never any pain and everything feels normal otherwise. The bleeding usually stops within a day. My main questions is what are the probable causes of this and how can this be treated?

Hi,
I jst had my period it ended yesturday morning. i had sex tonight and there was some blood. Not a lot, but there was enough for us to notice it. after it was over there was no blood in my underwear and no sign of bleeding. this has happened one other time and that time was the day my period had ended. that time there was a lot more blood, but again after we were done there was no blood left in my underwear, and there was no sign of blood anywhere the rest of the night. I just looked up if blood during sex is normal and did not like what i found. what do you think is going on? this has only happened twice and it was right after my period.
