Hello. I'm 27 year old female and about for two years now- my husband and I are trying to get a child, but with no success.
We were desperate until two months ago when one home pregnancy test showed a blue line that meant I was finally pregnant.
When that occurred there were no happier people on the planet. I was going on regular gynecological check ups and everything was just fine until three days ago when my doctor on ultrasound saw some irregularity and told me that there is a big chance I have developed a blighted ovum. He is not sure yet and told me to come again in a week. Please tell me is this something serious! Is there a chance that I could loose my child?

I know some facts about this condition because my wife has been diagnosed with it couple of years back.
I'm very sorry to say but- blighted ovum means abortion!
A blighted ovum is considered to be a form of spontaneous miscarriage and there is characteristic ultrasound picture with no fetus in it.
This condition is often connected with some hormonal and chromosome abnormalities. The beginning of pregnancy is normal because there is fertilization and development of preembyonic cells, but the embryo does not form. There are several theories about it but the bottom line is that it will not affect your next pregnancy and you could get pregnant normally after this. Don’t loose your hope yet, wait for doctor set the accurate diagnosis.
