Hi! I am not a doctor but I happen to know what PTH is. It is a hormone secreted by the parathyroid gland, which is situated under the thyroid gland and is responsible for controlling calcium levels.

Intact probably means that the levels of this hormone are normal, which would probably indicate that your calcium levels are normal.

Why did you go to see a doc? What kind of symptoms did you have?

Calcium has many effects on out body and low levels of calcium could lead to certain problems. Calcium is involved in building and maintaining bones and teeth, blood clotting, the transmission of nerve impulses, and the regulation of the heart's rhythm.
Around 99% of calcium is situated in our bones and teeth and the 1 % is situated inour blood and other tissues.

Low levels of calcium are the major cause of osteoporosis. Are you approchaing to menopause maybe?
