I am looking for some information about bone marrow biopsy. Is it safe? My mother will have bone marrow biopsy, so I’m concerned.

Bone marrow biopsy is actually taking a small sample of your bone marrow so it can be analyzed. This procedure is safe, and rarely there are some risks, but none of them are incontrollable. Bone marrow is inside of our larger bones. Usually they take sample from hip bone. The procedure is done under local anesthetic. Sample is taken with a needle. Don’t forget to inform your doctor about any allergies that you might have. This procedure is not completely painless, so you might feel discomfort. Abnormal result of biopsy point to some form of a cancer or anemia etc.
