I was born with no pulmonary artery to my right lung. Does anyone else have this? I wasn't diagnosed until I was 25 years old (I am now 51). I gave birth to three children and had bronchitis and pneumonia quite often until I moved to Wyoming six years ago. I have been relatively healthy, other than also being diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I became sick right after Thanksgiving and have been on oxygen for almost 30 days now. My doc treated me with antibiotics, just to be on the safe side, and said I have bronchial pneumonia in my one remaining lung. Has anyone else been diagnosed with this birth defect?

Back in 1985 when diagnosed, I was told only three other people had this rare thing, I was the fourth and the only woman.

I'm a woman and I just turned 51 and I just found out I have the same thing! My right lung is just taking up space according to my doctor. At first they thought I had fibrosing mediastinitis. Thank God it wasn't that. I too had bronchitis and pneumonia. They kept treating me with antibiotics saying my right lung was full of pneumonia and that's why it looked so different in the x-rays. Pulmonary Specialist said they were just looking at that day's x-rays and didn't compare them to my previous x-rays. Said my lungs have been the same since at least 1993, but feels it is a birth defect and that the artery was blocked at that time and then the airway was closed by an infection. I now have to deal with the calcium deposits coming loose. That's what sent me to the specialist to begin with. Coughing up pink - turned out the calcium came loose and irritated the airway. I can get stuff out, but no blood flow or air flow. They kept asking me if I lived in Cinci, Ohio. Endimic to that region. Nope! Very strange indeed. I wonder if it has anything to do with our ancestry? German and Polish descent. You? At this time, specialist says not to worry, my left lung grew to 80% to compensate the lack of the other lung. So, now I get to baby my lung and get on with my life. I smoked for a few years and on and off for a while, but not too serious. Husband is a smoker but he doesn't smoke around me. He's trying to quit! Wow - I can't believe I found someone else that has this!
